My hubby and I have decided to embark on our first ever trip to WDW with our 2 children in October 06.

When do the brochures come out so I can book, as currently they only go up to April 06 and now we've decided to go, I can't wait to book and make it official?

Also, I'm undecided as to how to book with. We want to spend 2 weeks at POR so don't know whether to book direct with Dreams Unlimited and book the flight independently or whether to book up with TCD or another tour operator?

Can someone please give a "Disney Virgin" some tips please???

Hi  and welcome to the DIS UK boards from someone else in South Wales!

Normally, I'd recommend going the D-I-Y approach using, as you suggest, DU. This has the potential to not only save you some money but also to enable you to tailor your trip to your exact requirments. For example, do you want to stay in one hotel for the whole trip or would you like to experience a change (maybe some time in a WDW resort and some time at one of the Universal Studios resort or I-Drive)? Would you prefer to go for something other than a strict 14 night trip? This kind of flexibility isn't always possible with packages.

However, as this is to be your first trip you may benefit from the reassurance of having everything booked for you by one tour operator. Check out the brochure prices when they're published - I think Virgin's 2006 brochure is due out quite soon but you may have to wait until the summer for others.

If you're comfortable with booking flights / fly-drives independently then I think DU is definitely worth exploring for the room-only booking at WDW.

Price up all the options with which you'd feel comfortable, and then make your decision - you've got plenty of time to plan! ;) ... and have fun planning

Hi there

Tis might help, I have noticed that some of the virgin hotels cannow be booked upto october 2006. It might be worth getting back on their site and having a look.
We stayed at the all star movies in April 2002 with our 2 girls, who were 5 and 2 and a half at the time, for nearly 3 weeks, it cost us approx 3600.00 + spending (about 1500.00). Hope this gives you a guide.

I would thougroughly recommend this, there is nothing quite like staying on site.

Have fun booking

Steve

Thank you everyone for your advice. After surfing the net just realised that Virgin is now booking up to Oct 06,so took the bull by the horns and booked 2 weeks at POR from14/10/06-28/10/06.

Can't wait to go now - looking forward to many happy hours planning hopefully what will be the first trip of a lifetime.

You can book early or book late ! I am going to Orlando first 2 weeks in april and haven't booked yet! I normally book with Travel City Direct around 3/4 weeks before we want to go.

Hi there and welcome to the boards,
We went for the first time last october and loved it so much we have booked to return May 06...now saving like mad!!
October is great weather wise. Most days were hot and sunny, we only had one day of torrential rain. The best bit about October is Mickeys not so spooky halloween party held on certain nights during October at MK. We had the best time and the kids enjoyed dressing up and looking at everyones amazing costumes.
Another real highlight was going to Celebration and looking at all the house decorations and the pumpkin patch. On certain nights they have leaves falling down the main street and hay rides.
Hope you have a fabulous time and enjoy all the planning and sharing of ideas, you will learn a lot on these boards, Rachaelx :cheer2:

Hi Claire,

Thanks for the info - I'll check out the website and join the Club! Any money I can save now can be used to spend at WDW. Yipee!!!
