When to ask for connecting rooms? ASM

My family and I booked two rooms in ASM and want to ask to get , if possible, connecting rooms. Years ago, I sent a request by fax directly to the hotel. Which is the better way now? Going Jan 2-7

Call and have the two reservations linked together with a "travel with number". Make connecting rooms the only request.

I agree with above. Do it as soon as possible, because rooms are assigned 5-7 days, possibly more, in advance.

If you do online checkin, leave the room location request section blank.

And if you are not assigned Connecting Rooms,go by the Front Desk and ask if they could check again.

"Many" times they will be able to find something(may involve waiting until later in the day,etc.).
