When to arrive at the parks?

On previous trips we were told to arrive at the parks at least 1/2 hour before opening because they open the parks before the actual published opening time. On our last trip they did not open the park until the time published. Does anyone know what the policy is now? We leave in SIX (Yes SIX) Days I'm so

We just got back and none of the parks opened prior to exact opening time.

They will let you in the gate before the actual time, but you will be held back with a rope until actual opening time.
