for hotel, dining reservations, etc. do they ever really do anything with that information? just wondering if it is for any purpose?

Sometimes they do things for you like give you a special button or bring you a special dessert if your reservation is in a restaurant. However we are usually celebrating our special things on a date that isn't the actual date. For example our 10th wedding anniversary is in March but we will be celebrating it when we travel in May. We are not able to travel in March due to my husband's college and the kids' school. I have found that when you celebrate on a day that isn't the actual day or near the actual day like we do then it is LESS likely that they will do anything -- or at least that has been my experience.

we just went to celebrate our tenth at disney in october! we had to go early due to dh's military training weekend...he ended up being away for our actual one...again.

our ta noted it on our ressies adn i didnt think much more of it. when we checked in it was there and we got our pins at asmovies. we wore them the entire trip and was wished happy anniversary everywhere. at several restaurants we were told oh i see your celbrating your anniversary with us. it was a nice touch.

at crystal palace we had our table decorated with mickey confetti in the shape of a heart. at crt a serve walked by saw our pins and literally said oh someones celbrating on my watch and literally threw cinderella coach confetti over the table as he walked by.
at chef mickeys we got our celbrate cupcake- but this is something they do for everyone there. still i found them to be nice touches!

We got a Happy Anniversary card from Mickey & Minnie in ourr room one day with a nicely decorated towel animal!

Yes, that happened to us too. We got the 20% for PhotoPass and we had two cards going as well.

It was still a nice little surprise that we weren't expecting!

yeah it was really nice! esp since by the time you do the exchange and shipping to canada it was close to 200!

Funny story - we went to WDW last year to celebrate my birthday. DH called ahead to advise the resort (WL) that it was my birthday. One night when we returned to the room, there were balloons, and a photo signed by Snow White saying "Happy Birthday Marguerite" - I took one look at it and asked who's Marguerite? (sure isn't me!).:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

My DH called the front desk to let them know of the error they had made - imagine if it had been for a kid? How devastating??? A couple of hours later a CM came up to our room advising that Snow White felt terrible about the mistake she made, and gave me a very cute chocolate totem pole!

We got engaged while down there in March.. And we got buttons and just about every resturant we went to we got something special.. TH we got a card signed from the characters MM we got free glasses of champagne.. And the amounts of congrats we got from CM's and guests was great.. It made you feel great!!! Now this trip will be her DS11 first trip and we will be getting married there.. So we will be looking forward to our buttons and such!!!

mreid, when did you let them know you had gotten engaged? Just at the resturants or when people greeted you or did you tell them you were planning on doing it when you made the reservation?

Like we're celebrating being able to get away without kids for a weekend?
or...celebrating 22 years and 4 months or marriage?

Ok at this point were not staying on the disney resorts but at wyndham close by, so do they still ask what you are celebrating? my sons birthday is the day we arrive so we'll be in disney the day after we arrive, and my birthday is april 16th and we depart florida april 3rd would we both be able to reap these celebration benefits

For my boyfriend's first trip, he received a First Trip button, our table at Tony's town square was decorated with streamers and confetti, the 20% photopass card and an autographed photo of Mickey.

We were there for our 20th Anniversary and on the actual day we were at Cape May Cafe for breakfast. I noticed on the receipt that was on our table it said that it was our anniversary. I though 'oh they really do something with the info'. Nothing at all was said to us about it but the couple at the next table were asked to stand and the servers all shouted 'Happy Anniversary'. The servers also shouted that they were celebrating there 5th. :rotfl:

We did get the confetti on the table at CP.....the day we were there was about 6 days after our anniversary.

When we made our honeymoon reservations, they made note of the celebration.

When we checked in, the definately knew we were there for our honeymoon, and we got a "priority" king bed resort room.

The one ADR we made was for Boma, and they knew it was our anniversary as well... gave us a free "special" desert tray.

We are going next month. We will be there 1 week after my son & Moms b'days (on same day - she says he is her favorite present ever) and during my parents anniversary and DMILs birthday. The one ressie we have is for dinner on DMILs b'day. We will be celebrating everything together during that meal BUT they have it on the ressie that it is MILs b'day.

My question - she has celiac disease (food allergy) - will they bring her a gluten free dessert?

Sometimes it gets noted, and sometimes not. We got upgraded to a king bed at POR, and they had a "First Visit" button for DBF when we checked in. The only restaurant that did anything was the Yatchsman. They had special paper menu's that had "Zach's First Trip!" written on top with some balloon decorations.
After checking in at the restaurant, once your family has sat down, I'd go to the hostess or find your waiter privately and just let them know that IF they were going to do anything special, she has dietary restrictions. Just be forewarned-- they don't HAVE to do anything for you. It's just nice and very "Disney" if they do. So when you tell the hostess or waitress, make sure you specify that you don't EXPECT anything, but if they WERE to do anything, it would be nice if they were mindful of her allergy.

I didn't mean to imply that I expected it, sorry  I am hopeful that they will recognize her BD in some way though, even just a big Disney Happy Birthday would be nice for her. :goodvibes

My husband asked me what I wanted for our 20th wedding anv. present and I told him I want to go to Disney World well our anv. is june 16th and we are taking our two children and we can't be at disney on the actual date because of my daughters final exams at school so we will be there two weeks after and when I called I told the CM that we were going to be celebrating our 20th but that it was actually two weeks after the actual date she said it did not matter and made note of it on our reservations. I dont know if they will do anything special but it will still be special to me I love Disney and my husband and I will have a great time.

We too are celebrating for the first time without kids (19 and 20)! That in itself is as big a celebration as out 25th Wedding Anniversary that prompted this trip:lmao: 14 days and counting :dancer::dancer::dancer:
