When the kids outnumber the adults... (ride question)

We have 3 fairly small children (all hovering right around the 40 inch mark-I'm sure 2 of them clear it, the 3rd may not). We are 2 adults. The last time we went to disneyland we had an extra adult- which we wno't have this time. Which rides are we not going to be able to go on (not because of their heights- I know how to look that up, but because they need an adult to sit with them.) We are going at a fairly busy time and I want to know what won't work.
Is there a good way to figure this out?

What are their ages? Children 7 and up can ride alone (meaning, they don't need an adult sitting right next to them). I just went with 1 adult and 2 kids under 7yo. Only ride I couldn't do was the Gadget Coaster in Toontown. At Toy Story they sat all of us in one car so I didn't get to shoot.

the oldest is 6, the younger two are 4. I doubt my 6 year old would be willing to ride anything alone- (the 4 year olds probably would)

You'd have to switch for Space Mountain and Gadgets Go Coaster. Splash would be OK I think. Big Thunder we could fit two kids with one (smaller adult). Can't think of another ride at DL proper where you can't fit one adult with two kids.

At DCA:
The bumper cars (in Bugs Land, actual name escapes me) will also require you to switch. Only one adult/kid can fit at one time. Jumpin Jellyfish may be an issue as probably the Swings.

The CMs should be pretty good about switch passes even if all the kids are over 40 inches.

You'll be fine in most rides, but when in doubt ask the CM before entering the ride queue.

Does anyone know if Mr. Toad has a maximum capacity of 2 per car? A few years ago, a mother asked me to ride with her six year old child. I can't recall, though, if the mother had two children with her and could only take one with her on the ride, or if she had 3 children and could take 2 of them on the ride.

I've seen Cast Members ride with children on Autopia. Actually, they stand outside the car on a little foot ledge and power the car with the exterior peddle. On some of the rides, like Mr. Toads and Alice in Wonderland, there are two rows so you can all sit in the same car. You might try that first, then Peter Pan (if you go on it) where your two oldest can ride together before or after you. So, there are five of you? There will be a few rides (like Dumbo) where one parent can ride with the two youngest. You shouldn't have issues. I took my two children by myself many times when they were little, and we had a great time at the parks.

Yeah you should probably try and get three people in a car then if iut's not possible you can do the switch witch will let you get past the line and the adult can ride twice

I think you'll be fine most of the time. Mr. Toad's could be difficult. You can fit 3 across if your two 4 y/o are both pretty small. There is a car out front you can sit in before riding to check. Peter Pan should not be an issue as it fits three pretty well. Dumbo could be another tight one, but again you could try it with the stationary Dumbo first. The Astro Orbiter allows three. Pinocchio, Snow White, and Alice all have two rows so you'll be fine even if you have to take two cars with one adult in each car. Toy Story you can fit three in a row if they're smaller, but someone would not be able to play, same with Buzz. We were told that at Gadgets DD could sit in front of DH and DS, but others have been told no. So that may be up to the CM. Technically they're supposed to allow it as long as the adult is riding with the child. If they all make 40" Big Thunder is an easy one to sit three across and Splash isn't an issue since you sit single file in the log. Space would be another where they might let the six year old sit in front of you, and they may not. But that may be a bit too intense for your 4 y/o anyway. I can't think of anything else where the rows won't allow for two kids and one adult to sit.

We just had our third so this is our future. Fortunately, by the time our youngest is beyond lap sitting or squeezing in our oldest will be seven. But still, she may not want to sit alone at seven, so I hope we'll be able to squeeze together for several years.

I think you might have to go one at a time on Silly Symphony Swings. You have to be 48" to ride in the single chairs; otherwise guests that are 40" or taller (and under 48") must ride with an adult in the tandem chair. The tandem chair only has two seats and there is no lap sitting. So for this one, you would need one adult per child that wants to ride.

I also have a similar question...I have 3 boys...ages 4, 3, & 1. I know we can do rider switch but which rides can i bring my 1 year old on?

As far as I know, your one year old can ride any attractions without a height requirement. I went with a 10 month old and I don't recall any attractions without height requirements where he wasn't allowed on the ride vehicle (though to be honest, we stuck mostly to FL and other little kid focused attractions).

At one you shouldn't have a problem. A few of the non height requirement rides have an unpublished rule that the child must be able to sit independently (Roger Rabbit is the most common). By one I imagine your child is sitting and probably walking independently.

All Fantasyland rides, except Matterhorn, are for everyone. In Toon Town you have Roger Rabbit that all can ride, but Gadget's Coaster is 35" requirement. All of the houses can be explored by everyone. In Tomorrowland Space Mountain, Autopia, and Star Tours have height requirements. But the Subs, Buzz, and Astro Orbiter do not. In Frontierland the only open ride is Big Thunder which has a requirement of 40". In Adventureland Indy has a requirement of 46" (highest in DL), but Jungle Cruise and the treehouse are available for all. New Orleans everything is good. Critter Country Splash is 40" and Pooh is for all. DCA has more rides with height requirements. Mater's is a family ride but has a 32" requirement (so will Luigi). Most of Buglsand is baby friendly, the bumper cars are not. Most of the Pier is NOT baby friendly, but Toy Story and Mermaid are both good for all.
