how long would you say it takes (using ME ) to get to your resort. If we get the flight we want we are hoping to be landing around 12:15pm
Does it take much longer than renting a car?

depends.

It could take less or more.

you sign up for it -then you go wait in a line. Some people (never me) are luck -they get in the line and go immediately to the bus.

my waits have been long - 45 minutes for the bus - then once the bus was loaded (took about 15) another 30 minutes waiting for the bus driver to quit talking to the other bus driver (:rolleyes1 ). then about 35 minutes for the drive to the WDW resorts.

be sure you get on the right resort bus - they share.

IF things haven't changed since we used ME a couple of weeks ago, once you check-in for ME you're directed to a line for your particular resort. At that time Poly and GF were together, and beside them WL and Contemp (these are divided by ropes and labeled, but there's someone there to direct you). This is still inside the airport.... When they're ready, a CM walks your particular line to a specific ME bus. In our case, they combined all 4 resorts onto one bus, but that probably depends on how many people arrive at a particular time for each resort. We were the first stop (WL) and arrived at the resort about 70 minutes after landing. Now we were the first people from all 4 hotels waiting for the bus (probably got there 10 minutes before anyone else) so I'd guess everyone got to their resort ~ 60-70 minutes after landing, assuming they went straight to the ME desk. Obviously YMMV

Edited to add: this timing assumes you don't go to baggage claim to pick up your bags. IMHO this is the biggest plus to ME (aside from the cost savings).

I am so glad that this thread was posted. We are thinking of using ME for the first time and had many questions about it ourselves. We are still contiplating on whether to use ME or rent a car. There are so many advantages for both.

My recollection is similar to PlutoPony's:
We walked directly to the ME desk after getting off the plane. One person from your party checks you all in. Then your entire party gets in your resort line. The "line" is wide and roomy with alot of happy, anxious people just starting their vacation - we actually had a good time talking with other excited families! We waited a very short time (less than 15 minutes) before we were directed to our bus. Our bus ended up with 4 destinations - WL, CR, Poly, and GF - in that order. I would say we were checking-in at the Poly about an hour after we landed.

I HIGHLY reccommed ME - not so much for the speediness, but just for the elimination of stress involved with baggage, rental car, tolls, directions, etc...

Thanks folks. We are excited about taking ME since we now have a toddler and we won't have to pick up our bags (gosh... we only have so many hands!!! LOL)

Just wanted to get an idea of the time line. In some ways it almost sounds quicker than getting a rental. By the time you go wait for your bags and then go to get the car balh blah blah.....

I would use Magical Express and if need be, rent a car. I know that the front desk can help you rent one, if need be:)
Enjoy and blessings to you
