My husband is wanting to book soon, but I told him we need to hold off until we find out about how his contract is doing at work (last time was one strike for 8wks), we should know better in late March. How late can you book for All star Movies or Pop, we are looking for the Oct 16-24 of this year. :confused3 I highly doubt a strike is going to happen but I just want to be sure we can afford. Thanks :goodvibes

I would start thinking about booking soon. That is a popular time with the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot.

You can always make a reservation and cancel if there is a strike. They would refund your deposit.

I agree..book now..that week is the absolute busiest at disney..summer like crowds because of all that is going on. Golf Classic, food/wine fest, MNSSHP, and whatever events are being held at the sporting complex.

Pardon me for jumping on the thread...did you say summer like crowds?? This is the week we picked...we were there Columbus Day week last year and thought we'd try a week later...oh my! Now I am really worried. We are booked at AKL.

Thanks for any info.

Hi Thanks I'm just a worry wart. You say the week I picked is very busy would we be better to go a week later? We are hoping to go to MNSSHP also. Thanks :earsgirl:

As long as Food and Wine is going on you will see crowds especially on the weekends.

We booked three weeks ago for Oct, in large part because our options are limited. POR is really our only option - we need the trundle. Can't afford anywhere else that does five to a room, or two rooms at a value. I wanted to be sure we would get what we needed room-wise.

If you have a wide range of where you can stay, and don't have your heart set on one particular place, you should be okay for a little longer. But if it makes you feel more settled, go ahead and book - as someone else mentioned, they will refund your deposit up until the week before you go.

Book now. You can always change if need be. This way you have your plans somewhat set. Have a great time and good luck.

we went last october the 20th-26th. we had no problem with crowds. the weekends did get busy at epcot for the food/wine festival but everything was still doable. we went to epcot on the week days and it was almost empty feeling. walked on mission space and test track there was only 1 or 2 people in line in front of us for the food and wine festival booths. we walked on all the rides at Mnsshp. even rode haunted mansion all by ourselves. we had a great time. we heard that deluxe resorts would be a little busier due to the golfers, but we did not notice that at akl. very peaceful.

I went during that week last year too. I'll be honest Mon - Thur ideal crowds, I didn't walk onto Mission Space or Test Track or any other rides. I did have about a 25 minute wait for MS, and well, as usual for TT...broke down. Everytime we tried to ride it breaks down. (TT has broken down the last seven times I have tried to ride it. I've always made it to where I can see the cars, one time I was getting ready to step into a car!!! What the deal with the break downs on that ride?!?! Oh well, that's another post!) But when Friday, Saturday and Sunday hit....OMG!!! :scared1: The crowds blew up!!! Best advice, hit the F&WF Mon - Wed...never had a long wait. Almost always walked up with no one in front of me. We went Friday around 4...and the lines were absolutely bezerk  .

One little piece of advice...carry your id around with you to prove you are over 21. I didn't think I would need it after arriving at Disney, parking the car and usuing Disney transportation. Only thing I could get was Watermelon juice. Definately not one of my favorites  .

For MNSSHP, go during the week. Walked onto every ride. Went to the 10 o'clock parade, got a great spot. I did learn one thing. It wasn't Wishes they showed for the Fireworks...that was a nice surprise! :flower:

No matter what, just Pace yourself, and enjoy it!!!!

Have a great trip!!!

We are going in Oct. and we have already booked our stay at the Poly. We did this about a month ago. Remember you can always cancel your reservations.

Have a great day

Oct. crowds keep growing each year. In The past Oct. was an ideal month. A lot of companies see that as well. It is a big convention month (with the exception of this year because of were the Jewish holidays fall) and a lot of schools have their fall breaks in the later part of Oct., starting Columbus day and on. We have started to go in the beginning of Oct. before Columbus weekend. Food and Wine starts Sept 30 and MNSSHP will start then as well. That way we have very light crowds during the week and we actually enjoy our trip instead of spending the whole trip fighting the crowds!
And yes, the golf tourny brings in a hugh crowd! Be forwarned!!

I booked our anniversary trip for Oct. 5-9 at POFQ last month using AAA discount at $156.10/night. Still waiting on tickets (Southwest only goes through June and Delta is sitting at about $225/ticket right now).

We were there October 25-29 of last year and didn't really notice HUGE crowds anywhere but Epcot. And at MGM, we walked onto almost every ride except The Great Movie Ride and even got to be part of the (very wet) show on the Backlot Tour. Was also there in October 2001.

With that said, It was also very warm -- close to 90 degrees one day and about 85 the rest. I prefer February.

first of all thanks to all of u. my best friend went last year oct 9-16 and she said the crowds weren't too bad during the week, which is likely when we will be going. So we'll likely be at epcot say on the Tuesday we are there. I have to decide by march 17 'cause that's when i have to book my holidays, hopefully by then we'll know better about strike or no strike. my friend said she booked hers in May of last year and stayed at POP i don't intend to wait that long. :goodvibes

I'll be there around the same time, Oct 20-24. My kids have a long weekend, and we decided to switch from July so we could do F&W and MNSSHP. We've been during crowded times before, just have a touring plan and PS' lined up.
It sounds like a wonderful time of year to go, have fun! :wizard:

We went last Oct. for our honeymoon and had a wonderful time. (oct. 24-30)
We were able to walk on most of the rides without much wait time. The only time it was as crowded as July (when we always go) was the 30th. It wasn't crowded the night we went to MNSSHP and F&W either. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have ressies booked for this Oct. as well (Oct. 24-31).

Enjoy yourself :cheer2: :cheer2:

If you start your stay one day earlier, it bumps you back to Value season, Triple A rate is $07 + tax per night. Just thought I'd mention it. At that rate, the extra night would be covered by what you save.

We booked our Oct 15-23 trip the last week in January, to take advantage of the Disney special at AAA. Even more than 9 months out, all of the double bedded rooms in CS were sold out! Kings only available. Book asap.

That's good to know so you are saying the 15th of oct instead of the 16?

Regular season starts Oct 5th. If gypsydoodlebug starts her trip on Oct 4th she will get the value rate for her entire stay. $134 - AAA discount (15%).

Digskat we were at the world Oct 15-22 last year. Epcot got busy at night but we had no problems during the day. The weather was great, you'll be able to hit a waterpark if you want. Enjoy yourself.
