Does anyone else feel wierd when someone comes out of hiding to post? I can't help but wonder what they read and what they think. I get so self conscious.
Anyone else?

I thought this was about a new FOX tv show

I lurked for a long time because I had never visited a msg board. I didn't know how they worked or what kind of people were on them. I know that sounds dumb, but I was a lot more concerned with what you would think of me than judging the members here!

I always lurk for a while before I start posting on any message board. It gives you a chance to figure out the etiquette, abbreviations, what kind of posts are acceptable, etc for that particular board so that you don't offend people when you do start to post.

Serena, as someone who lurks a lot more than they post, I can tell you that I am not judging anybody by what they write in their posts. Part of the reason I lurk is b/c I feel like everyone on here knows each other very well and I almost feel like I am intruding on a private conversation if that makes sense. So I mostly stick to posting on the fun threads and the polls.

LOL, I lurked for a loooonnnngggg time before I ever posted on this board. I posted occasionally on other boards but the community board was something altogether different and I found it much more intimidating at first. The funny thing was I didn't want to sound too 'knowing' about people when I first started replying to their posts, lol. I had been lurking long enough to know who was who, and a lot of stuff about them like if they were a man or a woman, if they were married, had kids, which posters they appeared to really like and which ones they kinda fought with.

^^ = stalker

Can she see this? :p

I know!! One time, I met my first DISer at Universal. The Dark Marauder. Later that day, I was leaving a Ghostbusters Show, and a woman and her family ran up to me, and asked if I was Flyfly_Eclipse. I said I was. It turned out they were lurkers, and didn't even ever post!!! I think that was really cool. :)

But yes...I often wonder what people think. But, it doesn't bother me as much. I more wonder if some of the lurkers are people I KNOW, and I just don't know they lurk. Then, they can read every little thing I've said and joked about. Would be VERY embarrassed about that!!! LOL :p :p :p

((OOPS! This is Flyfly_Eclipse under her mom's screenname!!!))

Me, too. Although I'm getting more comfortable.::yes:: :wave2:

I lurked for a long time before I posted. It's kind of nerve racking, even on a message board to jump right into conversations between people who have "known" each other and interacted for a long time. I finally just had something I wanted to say to some of you and I posted. I have been received very warmly and enjoy reading and posting to the board. I still don't feel like I "know" anyone very well yet, but it is just a matter of time. I'm looking forward to making friends on this board. I can tell there are alot of very wonderful, witty and caring people on this board from the things that they post. :wave2:

Perfectly said. I tend to avoid posting on the more personal threads because I think I am intruding. I am starting to feel more comfortable overtime with giving my opinions on things. I often read the threads for pixie dust or sad news but may not post because i feel like I don't really know the op.

I may seem like a luker because I don't have alot of posts (most of which are made on the cruise board) Well, I don't really consider myself a lurker because I only click on the threads that sound interesting to me and then I'll usually post. I don't lurk on threads that dont really grab my attention, I probably read about 3-5 threads a day. I also do the polls, some of those are really fun.:D
