When it's time for me to leave this World

I was reading another thread about the woman who drowned in a pool at Coronado Springs, as tragic as it is, there where several off color comments about how Disney may have to redesign the pools refering to the changes at Mission Space. Some people started jumping them about being insensitive etc.

Well I got to thinking, other than causing the trauma to the person who found me, and the grief they might have at not being able to revive me, what better place to enjoy my last breaths than in the Happiest Place on Earth.

I don't want to sound morbid or anything but it seems that too many people get hung up on dying. Granted I am not ready to check out right now but if it happens, I'll just have to live with it...(or not I guess). I just hope that I go peacefully in a pleasant place like Diney World.

I can sort of see what you mean. It would be nice to go at a place like WDW, but at the same time it seems like it would put a damper on any trip your family would want to take following that (to WDW, I mean). As much as I'd like to go peacefully at 85 years old while rocketing down Splash Mountain, I wouldn't want to burden my family or ruin any other peoples trips with hearing news about someone passing away in the Happiest Place on Earth. I think I'd settle for having my ashes scattered in the World Showcase Lagoon. :thumbsup2

Now there's a question....

OK everyone, Where in Disney World would you like your ashes to be spread?

I think I would like mine to be spread along the lazy river at Typhoon Lagoon. It's just so peacefull there

To be honest, I'm surprised that DisneyCo hasn't come up with some way to cash in on these sentiments. Something like the Walk Around the World bricks, or Leave a Legacy at EPCOT (heck, those things look like tombstones already!) A nice, pleasant corner of WDW with peaceful walkways and places for ashes w/ nameplates - for $50 extra, you get your choice of Disney characters on your nameplate! :thumbsup2 And for mega-dollars, you could be buried near the HM!

"Hear lies good old Dr. T
This plot cost him quite a fee"

:rotfl2:

And Epcot242, while I understand your sentiments, I'm not sure I agree. Regardless of where someone dies, the first few trips there (even if the person dies at home in bed) are difficult, but time tends to mute the sorrow. I think it would be a hoot for my son to go to WDW and stop by to see "Dear Old (Departed) Dad!"

IMHO - YMMV - Be well!

I don't have an opinion of taking my last breath at Disney ...... However,
seeing that I have a very strong belief in life after death, I will be visiting WDW frequently long after I die. And this I just ..... know.

You know what's a real rip-off?

If you died at WDW, you're very unlikely to actually get it written on your death certificate!

You can die at WDW but Disney try to ensure ensure that you're declared dead at by a doctor at a hospital, so you'll most likely actually be declared dead off-property.

So, the claim here is not that no one has ever actually died on Disney theme park property, but whether Disney can legitimately make the claim that "no one has ever died at a Disney park" because they ensure that any declaration of death takes place outside of park property.

What a jip!

Claims: Disney can legitmately claim that no one has ever died at one of their theme parks, because they always ensure that accident victims are removed from park property before being declared dead.

Status: False.

I would like my ashes scattered at the Crossroads of the World at MGM. My favourite place on Earth to be.

Well, okay, I don't know yet where I'd like my ashes spread (I'll edit this post when I decide), but when it happens I do hope plutolovr or some other Dis-er/s with a dry sense of humor will post some commentary about me!

when i go to "The Great Beyond" I know i will be visiting the world all the time...
If it were alloud i would want to spread my ashes either in the 7 seas lagoon or World shocase lagoon.
as far as if it were to happen on property I do not think it would ruin it for my family it would give them another reason to visit more often.

One place I DO NOT want my ashes spread would be on "It's a Small World." It's bad enough that the song stays in my head :rolleyes1 for the whole day after riding, I don't :sad2: need to hear it for eternity.

This is the second thread I've read that says something to the effect of "at least they died in the Happiest Place on Earth." But who's to say these people died "peacefully". If the woman who died in the pool drowned, I imagine that would have been pretty painful and horrifying. If she had a heart attack, that's pretty painful also. The people who died after riding Mission:Space may not have been all that comfortable, either.

I'm not trying to stir the pot or pick a fight, these postings just got me thinking about how "un-peaceful" death can be and it really doesn't matter where you die, it just might hurt.

I always make a point of telling my family to please cremate me and scatter me while riding BTMR!! I do hope they sit in the last seat tho....wouldn't want to get ashes in anyone's eyes!!!

I agree with your sentiments-when DM and DF used to travel, they used to always say before their trips, "If anything happens to us, don't feel bad-we're doing what we love!"
Actually, I know of someone from these boards who had his ashes scattered at WDW when he died. Instead of all in one spot, his family scattered his ashes in a bunch of different places-at his favorite resort, several of his favorite rides-I like that idea. Part of me goes in the river across from Flights of Wonder at AK, part in the lagoon between TSI and Frontierland, part in WS lagoon so I can see Illuminations every nite-I'm sure I'll come up with a few other places, and hopefully I have lots of time to pick them out!

There was a great thread a few years ago about how many people would pay big bucks to literally "go out with a bang" by having their ashes as part of a WDW fireworks display. Illuminations for me--my ashes with that one lone firework at the beginning that shoots across the World Showcase!
I'm with you Dr. T-- can't believe Disney hasn't cashed in on this yet. The family could have the private roped off area near Italy, special desserts, maybe a favorite character greeting...I can see it now... ;)

Yes, thank you, I did read the snopes.com page.
If you read MY post, you will see that it is UNLIKELY that you will be declared dead on Disney World property. I did not state that it is impossible to be declared dead at WDW, just that it is unlikely. Which is exactly what the snopes.com page tells you, if you'd read it all the way through.

:wave2: Hi! I was one of those people getting jumped on for "making an off color remark"... I would hope that if I died at WDW, my family would NEVER hesitate to go back! I would also expect that the intellectuals of the world (or of the "World") would be able to contemplate my death as MORE than just a "tragedy". I would hope that my death would spark a debate! If I could only be so lucky! Even if it is to debate the liability of Disney...

In this world nothing can be said to be certain, except death and taxes! (Ben Franklin)

When I kick the bucket, cremate me, and toss half of me over your shoulder during the big drop on Big Thunder Mountain and the other half should sit on the mantle over the fireplace. I want everyone to wonder which of my bits and pieces ended up all over Disney World and which ones are sitting there on the mantle! :rotfl2:
