when it rains at a theme park what do you do???

hide indoors and wait til the rain has stopped
put your poncho on, and carry on as normal
put your poncho on and leave the park
go and buy a poncho

what do you do???

we normally sit indoors and wait til it has stopped, and maybe make a few runs to places next door

We build it into our schedule, with the generally reliable assumption that summertime in Orlando means daily early afternoon T-Storms. We hit the parks when they open, stay until 1 or 2, return to our room/condo for lunch/nap/pool, and then return to the parks at 4 or 5 and stay thru until closing. 90% of the rain that we've encountered has occurred while we're back at the room. We do pack ponchos and keep moving (unless the rain's torrential or with lightning) if we do run into a storm.

It really depends on what we were doing at the time its starts raining. Florida weather is so unpredictable its started raining out of nowhere and you have no choice but to run for cover! In that case we hang out where ever we get cover until it slows down, put on our ponchos and go on with our day.. Every once in awhile we hang out in a shop until it stops..

Usually buy a poncho, because we don't feel like carrying ponchos around all the time. And then, as Tim Gunn would say: "Carry on!"

It depends on which park we are at and what we are planning. Usually we just keep on trekkin'. If it's storming, we will go into a shop or an indoor attraction. Last year we had an exceptionally rainy day at EPCOT, so we just kept going. We walked through WS and went in and out of shops, then when we were ready to move on, we just went out into the rain. No big deal, we dried off pretty quickly. The biggest problem we encountered was our sandals getting wet and we were sliding off of them. Solution? We took off our sandals and continued on. The warm cement actually felt good on my feet. Oh, and we are also "No poncho people". They just get too hot and sticky and feel gross in the humidity. I carry a small umbrella in my purse, just in case, but hardly use it.

Even with rain it is still warm in Orlando, so I will not go for cover (I live in Belgium, it rains here it rains for days and it is cold). :sunny:

Even During "Wilma" last year I was out there (at CBR)... (I know, WDW only got the edge of Wilma, otherwise I would have been inside for sure...) :teeth:

Must...bite...tongue... :lmao:

Okay, anyway, in all seriousness :teeth: I just head for another show or ride. It's just a little water. I'll get just as soaked on Splash Mt.

We always carry our Ponchos to the park in the daytime. If it rains we put them on and carry on as normal. We usually hit the shops or some of the indoor attractions especially if it is a thunderstorm, but we wait it out knowing the in FL normally the rain will not last long and alot of people will leave the park because of the rain.

We put on ponchos and carry on. The cool thing is a lot of people leave so less wait in lines for us! We bring ponchos from home but have sometimes left them in the room. :rolleyes1 Silly I know. So we just buy Disney ones.

We usually bring our own ponchos if the weather channel mentions rain. If we get caught off guard we'll duck for cover or buy a poncho depending on if it looks like the rain will stay awhile. Usually it doesn't.

We always hope that everyone else will leave. They never do. popcorn:: :umbrella: :confused3

We usually have our ponchos with us, if not we just buy another one!!
And we keep going like its not even raining. Back in Oct it rained practically every day of our trip, but we just stuck to the schedule and had a ball!!!

Grab a poncho and carry on! Most people scatter like cockroaches when a storm hits, so you can stroll through the parks without the crowds. If you're in MK, TTA is a great place to be when it starts to rain!! It's fun to watch all the people scramble into the closest shop. :rotfl:

We put our ponchos on a carry on as normal. It rains almost everyday (for an hour or so) in August and we don't let it interfere with our day. If it's a really bad thunderstorm, we head into a store or attraction until the storm passes.

First my family usually has to stop and buy a poncho... we're always too excited to remember the many ponchos we bought and packed just for the trip. Second, we carry on because not even a little rain can ruin your Disney Magic... unless it happens to be a terrible storm... then we know to run for cover.

Hi, I am new to the boards. We were in Disney the last week of June and one day it poured and the ponchos weren't much help as it was raining sideways. We just went back to our hotel (WL) and it gave us an opportunity to really check out the hotel. We went to the arcade and the gift shop. We had dinner at roaring forks and the kids were decorating cookies and they let us adults jump right in. It turned out to be a nice relaxing evening and the rain didn't ruin the magic at all.

In my 4 WDW trips I have only encountered rain one time. There was a torrential down pour when we were at epcot. We ducked into a building and waited and waited. Finally I decided to make a run for the gift shop across they way and bought 9 rain ponchos. I put mine on and ran back to the rest of our group. Everyone got their ponchos on and we headed out for more fun. Of course the rain stopped about 30 seconds after we got out the door and it was all sunshine for the rest of our trip :sunny: I'm packing out lucky ponchos for this trip to ward off and rain.

If in Animal Kingdom, I'll head for Kali River Rapids--trust me it's a lot more fun to ride in the rain. :ssst:

Otherwise, just pull on a poncho and keep on going. It's not like I'm the wicked witch of the west who's going to melt while wet. :umbrella:

I've done Splash in the rain, wonder what it would be like to do Jungle Cruise

Put on our ponchos and carry on :wizard:
