This is more of a rant, but I needed to vent and figured most of you have been in my place before. First let me say that I know things could be worse, but it just seems like the end of the tunnel is getting farther away.
I have 3 kids and just recently found out we are expecting number 4:goodvibes. My youngest is 10 so needless to say we no longer have any baby items and are having to buy everything. My oldest is going to be a sophomore in high school this year and he goes to a special school for gifted children, not cheap by any means, but worth it so that he can be around like minded people and be challenged with his work. He was bored to death while in public school.
Just got notice that they are increasing the fees for the school by almost 200 and of course it is due by mid July. Last night while cooking dinner my oven turned itself off. I got it going again, but now it will heat up, cook for aboutn10 minutes and then turn itself off. This morning I got a bill from the doctors office that insurance has paid all they are going to for one of the kids procedures and my total is a little over 200. I took my DS 10 to the orthodontist today for a follow up ( he has a lot of dental trouble and is very small for his age which causes major crowding) and now they are going to have to put in a space maintainer system ( they will band the back teeth and run a rod along the backs of his teeth to hold them in place) that will more than likely not be covered by insurance and will need 4 teeth extracted. :rolleyes2
It just feels like I can't catch a break this week. I will get it all taken care of, I will have to rearrange some priorites, but it will get done. Thanks for letting me vent!

Congratulations on the news of your 4th!
The rest will work itself out, it always does

Try used classifieds for a new range, probably cheaper than a repairman

Congratulations on your fourth, but I'm so sorry that all of these stresses are happening at the same time!

Hugs

Just wanted to add that you might want to get another opinion concerning the orthodontists. I have had 5 kids in braces over the years. With our last child we were told he would have to have 4 or more teeth extracted, and a BUNCH of other complicated procedures -- b/c he has a small mouth and big teeth.

I didn't like the sounds of any of that … I didn't see any reason to pull 4 great teeth on a kid that already has a sweet tooth … lol.

Went to another ortho and he said no extractions and maybe 2 years in braces.

Turns out he was in the braces just 15 months and his teeth are perfect. No extractions whatsoever. Of the 5 children he was given the worse prognosis from that first ortho … but had the best outcome by going for the 2nd opinion.

Does your local high school offer PSEO classes? If so, he could take all college level classes, be challenged, AND possibly get his Associates Degree at the same time. All for free.

And congrats on the new one!

Oh my dear! What a week!

Check out Craigslist for a range/oven, but I highly suggest Habitat for Humanity Restore--we replaced our $200 built-in microwave for the same model, a year newer for $15!

Also, there are great baby consignment shops that might help with all the necessities!

Finally, try calling your insurance about the teeth. You might have the dentist change the code on it to show it as a medical need. I don't know how that works, but it can't hurt to ask, right? Alternately, our local area does weekly low cost dental work once a week. You might try calling some community health groups (like health fairs?) and look for suggestions.

If none of that works out, hang in there none the less--your kids have a great family! And a new sibling to add to it!:yay:

Yep when it rains it always pours around our house! :rotfl2:
I feel your pain on the ortho/dentist part. My DS is almost done with braces. Lowers were removed last week and uppers will be in a couple weeks. But we have to have one last dental procedure done and it will cost $2500 for the first part of it and about $1400 for the second part. Our dehtal ins won't cover any of it so we are having to pay out of pocket. But hey at least they gave us a 5% discount if we pay in cash!! :rolleyes1 We found this out just last week and his apt is next Tues so we had 2 weeks to pull the cash together! Thank god for savings account! But man what a hit.
So after this procedure we will have paid close to $10,000 out of pocket over the last few years just for dental work.

I just keep thinking..one step closer to the end of all the dental work and maybe, just maybe we will still have money for retirement! :goodvibes

Consignment shops for the baby items, also if you're ready to announce, maybe ask on facebook to see if anyone you know is selling or giving away baby items.

Congrats on number 4

Sorry for your crazy, $$ week!!! Our little town has a yardsale section on Facebook. People are literally selling baby items for pennies on the dollar. Maybe you have something like that....or church. I know I gave away tons of baby stuff to fellow parishioners. Just put out the word, people generally want to help. Best wishes!!

We have 4 kiddos and 6 years in between #2 & #3. We thought we were done and got rid of all the baby gear. I bought mostly used (which I hadn't done the first time around) and I received tons of used baby gear that friends were done with. I ended up with even more than I think I had with my first baby!! Just used, which I was fine with :goodvibes
