they're expecting RAIN this weekend

Whats the best things to do at Disney (or the orlando area) when it rains ???

I was thinking about EPCOT center, is that the best bet for a rainy weekend ??

What indoor activities are the best bet ?????

The rain they are talking about is the typical afternoon rain where it rains for a short time and then the sun comes out again. It may be raining on one side of the park and not the other.

Just take your ponchos and enjoy the parks. It does chase a lot of people out making for shorter lines.

AK is probably one of the less desirable parks to be in when it rains. There aren't as many indoor attractions. Like safetymom said, don't let the rain slow you down--it usually doesn't last long :umbrella:

See, I would disagree w/ the AK. Only b/c dh and I were there when it pourd all day. We were there in Aug when it was hot. On this day the rain made it cool and all of the animals were out. I think we saw every animal on the Safari. The lion even came out and roared for us. I'll never forget it. And of course we didn't take our camera. We didn't think we'd need it since we'd been this park so many times already. Oh well. Have fun!

Disney Quest in DTD is also a great way to spend the afternoon. Sometimes we go to the movies or go to the mall. :flower:

Don't let the rain stop you! We went to MGM on a pretty rainy day and it was still fun. Just throw on some ponchos and have a great time!

Last visit (just one day at MK) it rained all day. We did the park with very few others, it was great! I would go again in the rain to any park. Bring the poncho, use the rental stroller (don't want yours to get all wet and smelly) and off you go!

Wilderness Lodge has a Hidden Mickey Hunt that's great for a rainy day activity. Just ask the CM at the desk for the clues.

Animal Kingdom Lodge would also be a great place to explore on a rainy afternoon. It's incredible.

DTD has a movie theater.

The rain can be a blessing. Put on your poncho and enjoy. The lines suddenly disappear as many people start leaving the parks.

We don't let the rain get us down. When my family went on a July 4 week, we just wore ponchos. Our trip last month, we thought it would rain. DH just said "I don't care, we are going to get ponchos and we are going to do WDW!" Thankfully it didn't, but at least I knew he was ready to go for it :earsboy:

The first day of our trip in late February 2002 it rained buckets. We put on our ponchos and rode virtually every ride in the Magic Kingdom in about 5 hours, many twice. No waits at all.

It rains everytime we do MGM! Put on those ponchos and go! If it is a rain all day kind of rain we wear our "better" wal-mart ponchos but if showers are expected, we take a few cheepO's and just throw away after the shower. Target has adorable ponchos for kids but when DS was little he hated them. He much prefered a child's rain coat. When we do the parks on a "real" rain day we wear baseball style caps under the poncho and the rain runs off your face better. Try to wear shoes that dry quickly or at least have an extra pair of socks with your. Wet feet = blisters! Lockers are in every park in case the rain stops, you can stash all the rain gear! DQ is a good idea but it gets CRAZY busy in a rainy day. Good luck and pray for sunshine!!

I found my daughter's at Wal-Mart before we left, but they do sell them EVERYWHERE at Disney. I think they're about $6.

I thought Disney Quest would be a good idea, too, until I tried it once on a day when it was pouring. We had to stand in line forever (in the rain) to even get in. Apparently everybody else had decided the same thing.

Once we got in, it was so crowded that you really couldn't do anything except wait in line for the games. It was the worst I had ever seen it in about six - eight visits.

I don't recommend rainy days there.

Just curious where you find child-size ponchos....looked at WalMart but no luck

Two options, I I have found the small ponchos at WallyWorld. sometime you have to look through ones on the rack. I like the disposable ones. Some times on end caps.

The other option is the 2 gallon Ziplock bags, I know, I know, it sounds funny but depending on the size of your child these work great. You can also find the plain white Tall Kitchen trash bags. Just make sure you get the ones that are not treated with some chemicals.

Years of Scouts has taught us to be resourceful to not lose a day to rain.

If it rains on our day at the park, I will be relieved! We will be wearing rain gear and will be glad that the sun isn't bearing down on our alabaster-white skin!
