When it feels like your life is falling apart....

I have been there a few times - in therapy and needing something *more* to do with myself. If you need someone to talk to, feel free to pm me.

Anyway, I throw myself into my current hobbies or try to learn something new. Volunteering is good, but not everyone can do it. Its a good time to focus on things you might have been putting off for whatever reason. Throw your efforts into bettering yourself - exercise more, teach yourself a new language, etc.

Or do the things you have been putting off for awhile - clean your attic, donate old clothes, etc.

how do YOU handle it? If you're already in therapy, what else do you do to try to cope with things? I'm finding myself in a very difficult situation and am really struggling with what to do next. Therapy is great, but is a long process. What have you done to help you get through? I'm thinking that drinking wine isn't the best idea.... :p

Wine can actually make you feel worse because it's a depressive.....

Do you like to read? Play word games on the computer, walking seems to help.
Vitamin B & D...Hope you feel better very soon~

I let myself feel bad, but at the same time I know from experience and age that, pardon this, There's a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow. OK, I know tomorrow isn't always better but it usually is a little better because you have survived the day before. Your prospective of your life and situation is made smaller and less anxiety filled.

Everyday after your first day is a little better. Ride it out. That is the answer. You can ask for gods help, you can see your therapist, whatever it takes to make you feel better, but in the long haul how you deal with life comes from inside you. It was always there you just have to dig it out.

I have had a lot of black days in my life. The next day the same problem was a little more gray and subsequently everyday after became brighter. I remember a wall poster that said...Hang in there until tomorrow, the answer my be that close.

I pray. I love Stormie Omartian's "A Book of Prayer." When I am truly struggling, just having the strength to pray is hard sometimes. This book has helped me when searching my soul about what to pray about.

I read the Bible. Also, I have a little book of scriptures called, "Precious are the Promises" by Ron Dicianni. I love to read it. It has sections that you can read based on your need like Strength, Courage, Grace, Healing, Guidance, Wisdom, just to name a few. So helpful.

Helping others. It feels so productive to help someone else and take your mind off your troubles while you help them.

Cleaning and organizing your stuff.

Working like crazy!

Exercising and exercising hard. It really helps.

I clean, too. DH thinks I am a freak, but when I am really mad, upset or worried, I clean like a madwoman. But it gives me a sense of control and a feeling that if my stuff is in order, my life is in order, too.

I feel a whole lot better when I exercise regularly and drink lots of water.

I have also found that some medications have emotional side effects. Are you taking anything that might be bringing you down?

Feel better, soon, OP!

I pray, I cry, I listen to Gospel music till my soul feels whole again. Read the bible and take it slow. Those are all the things I do.

I call on God to help me. Also call on the Angels to.

I medicate. Do EFT and tapping. I know where coming from. I am pulling myself out bad situation.

I got back doing things that make me happy. I use be real big in doing voulteer work. I going back to that.

I was in really bad work eniroment that endly badly. It was really negaitve to. so I am working on my self esteem alot.

You've gotten some good advice. :thumbsup2

Prayer, volunteering and helping others really takes the focus off of you and helps you to feel productive in a way that matters, and if all else fails being open with your dr and taking some anti-depressants. I hate taking pills, but they do help.

Some people talked about cleaning. . I hate it, but sometimes feeling bad is really feeling overwhelmed, and in that case, cleaning and decluttering can help. Even better, donate or freecycle your cast offs to others that can be blessed by them is a great feeling.

Good luck. . .I have been there so many times it's not funny. Please keep us posted about how you are doing. Just posting here is a cry for help. And that is a very good sign. . .keep reaching out. . .you are not alone!

By "life is falling apart" I'm thinking you mean bigger stuff than I'm answering, so keep up the therapy too, but if you're asking what to do about the little stuff that comes on top of the big stuff...

When I have too much to do - I DIS. It helps to relax for a bit and then make a fresh start.

When I have too much to worry about - I clean. I agree with others that it's a control thing. If I can get some control over my physical environment, somehow it helps with the mental environment.

And I definitely agree with the folks who have said to help someone else. It just feels good.

Also, preventative is key - If I forget to drink enough water, if I don't get enough sleep, etc.... I definitely feel it.
