When is your kids' Christmas break?

I'm in MA too. All students must go to class for 180 days per year.
We start the Wed after Labor Day and get out in late June - depending on snow days. The official calendar builds in 5 snow days. If those aren't used - unusual - then they get out those days earlier. If they use more than 5 snow days, the calendar is extended.
We get Jewish holidays in the Fall off, out Dec 23 and back January 3rd, for Christmas and a week in February and a week in April.

The Jewish holidays are unusual for outside of NYC! Lucky you! My sister lives in central MA and her kids don't get those days. She's jealous we can work our calendar to go to Disney in September next year, and she'll be suffering in August.

Last day was 12/20 and they return on 1/4.

We have the Jewish holidays off also, about 90 minutes north of the city :)
Like a few of the other NE states we go pretty close to Christmas Eve, so yesterday the 22nd was their last day and they'll go back 1/2. Sometimes it works out to closer to a week and a half they have off; but I'm more than ok with the shorter break lol!

Around here seems to be the shortest holiday break in awhile, mostly due to the holidays landing on Sunday. They're still going today (23rd...although for half a day) and returning on the 2nd or 3rd. The benefit seems to be an earlier closing than usual in June, unless Mother Nature has other ideas this winter.

The school districts in our city seem to have different breaks this year. most are either 12/19-1/2 or 12/21-1/4. Typically they are all the same and it's two straight weeks, but one of our major school districts chose to split the break up and a few others followed suit.

My kids fall into the second group. They had school through Wednesday of this week and don't go back until 1/5. We are taking advantage of this and going to WDW the first week in January and letting the kids miss two days of school! It was then or spring break, and found we saved more money by booking in January. Either time was going to be crowded, so cost was the deciding factor for us.

I can't tell you next year's will be, but this year Dec 16th was my son's last day. He goes back on Jan 9th for a three week break. We have never had such a long break before, so I doubt that will happen again next year. Most of the schools around here got off on 12/16 and go back on 1/3.

We are in the Philadelphia suburbs. Our kids have off 12/26-1/1. They go back on 1/2.

12/23 a full day and then back on 1/3 here. I'm a crabby old grammy, send those kids to school!!! They just had 5 (4 1/2) days at Thanksgiving PLUS Veterans Day and Election Day and half days for teacher conferences. They need more school time not more time off!! :-)

Same here...we usually get 3 weekends included and teachers (me) usually go back the Monday and kids the Tuesday. But this year and next we went through this past Wednesday and kids get full two weeks (going back Thurs 1/5 this year).

We go 180 days as well. Start beginning of August, out before Memorial Day. Full week at Thanksgiving and Spring Break.

We are in Year Round school- my kids last day was Wednesday and we have 5 weeks off!

Don't know how working parents do it. Daycare is so ridiculously expensive, DS & DDIL cannot afford it even with both working. They really struggle when the boys are off from school. One week is hard enough, can't imagine what they'd do if it was 3-5 weeks!!

we have our calendars for the next two school years in our district in NW OH. for 2017/18 they are off starting Thursday 12/21 and return Wednesday 1/3. The following year they have less time - the week of Dec. 24 and then return Thursday 1/3.

We are in NH. Last day was full day today and we go back on the first Tuesday in January. It really depended on the district as to what day people got off. I have a brother-in-law that his school gave him this week and next week off. My sister (at another school in the state) got out yesterday. I know many districts had a half day today. Our school board denied our principal's request for a half day today because it was made 2 weeks ago. I'm not sure why it wasn't done sooner. As a child my family always would drive to KY for Christmas. They always had to get special permission from their school's superintendent to take the 23 off if their districts didn't have that day off.

My kids had a full day today. They don't go back until the 9th. We always get 2 weeks at Christmas (Ontario).

Our school year is 194 days. Start after Labour Day, long weekend in October (Thanksgiving), 2 weeks at Christmas, 1 week in March, 4 day weekend at Easter, then we go until the end of June (29th or 30th typically). A few random long weekends as well, but no half days.

I am super jealous of all those with long breaks I see posted! (Parents around here feel otherwise and complain even about the length of our shorter break-- they want their kids in school.) Last year was a fluke and we had a full 2 weeks off. (First time in the 15 years I have taught in Maine.) We had our last day 12/22 and go back 1/3.
