When is your kids' Christmas break?

DD (Public school GA) - last day Weds 12/20. Goes back Thursday, 1/5
DS (Private school GA) - last day Tues 12/19. Goes back Wednesday 1/4

Next year, it's the same split.

This year our last day (NYC public school) is 12/23 (tomorrow, Friday) and we go back 1/3 (Tuesday). The 2017-18 calendar isn't out yet, but it will likely be last day 12/22 (Friday), back 1/2. (Tuesday)

Ouch! You only get one week off there?! Poor teachers and kids!

Our town in CT: we go until the last weekday prior to Christmas Eve. Usually that means a half day on the 23rd. We go back on the 2nd, unless New Years Day is on the weekend and the 2nd is the legal holiday. In that case we go back on the third.

For 2017, the last day of classes will be Friday the 22nd, and the kids will go back on Tuesday Jan 2, 2018

The "payoff" is that we have a lot of days off in the fall. There are a lot of Jewish and Muslim holidays in September and/or October, depending on the year. Sometimes we don't have a full week of school from opening until mid-October.
Our kids get nearly 3 weeks at Christmas and a full week in the fall. BUT, they go to school in early Aug (and get out in mid May)
Still, that's a really short Holiday break. Is it also the end of your semester? Our kids have their exams prior to Christmas break too. So they are ready for the long break

My daughter is still young, so we don't have any "big" exams. We start after Labor Day, and go until the end of June - June 28th this year, last year, too. We go at least 180 days total, usually 182-184 unless we have a disaster that keeps school closed, like Hurricane Sandy, that closed schools for a week, and took days away from winter (February) break.

My nephew was out of school on 12/14 this year, and he goes back 1/9.

Our last day is tomorrow (23rd) and they go back Jan. 3rd. Not sure about next year, I've heard all of our breaks are short this year so that they have time to finish a new school this summer. our first day of summer break is June 1st, which is early for us.

Many NJ schools are the same as NY. We will have off from the 24th- 2nd or 3rd.

Yes, it is tough. BUT.. we don't start until after Labor Day. My school has full week for spring break and we get out in Mid June.

I work in a public school in MA. Our break this year is Dec 24-Jan 2. Next year will be Dec 23-Jan 1. This is pretty typical. We never get more than a week and a half at most. We start after Labor Day and end mid-June, depending on snow days. But we also get a full week in Feb and a full week in April. The students always attend a minimum of 180 days.

Our Christmas break is always two weeks. Today is there last day of school (23rd) and they will go back Jan. 9th.

DD's district got out Dec. 16 and they go back Jan. 9
The district I live in got out Dec. 22 and goes back Jan. 10

That's similar to here. Looking at the calendar, school went in September 6, will end June 23 (high school students classes technically end the week before that as the last week is exam week), then there's a full week off for spring break, two weeks off for Christmas break, then 5 days off for statutory holidays, normally another 3-4 days off for PD days, and then typically 4-5 days missed in the winter for storm days!
