When is your first park day

We changed it up last september by heading to MNSSHP almost directly from the airport after a four hour Flight, immigration, ME, resort checking, a Quick change, and ended up at MK at around 6, on no food!
We were cranky and exhausted and the Park was pretty packed. We were glad we had the Experience, but we wouldn't do it again.

Normally every day is a park day--at least for a little bit--for us, but this year we're doing things differently.
We're taking the train down instead of flying and while the trains are often on time on that route they can also be quite late. So we decided to let our first day be a day to check out some other resorts and Disney Springs. Then the rest of our trip we'll have hoppers for every day. Even our last day. We'll have from 9-3 to be in a park that day, which seemed plenty of time to have a bit more fun! :)

I haven't been to Disney in 10 years, so not sure this is relevant... we're driving up from SE FL (3 hours) on a Saturday, checking in, changing into something nicer and driving to Disney Springs for a photopass mother-daughter pic at the studio there & some window-shopping. Then drive to the Contemporary for sushi & dessert at California Grill (we have a 7:35PM ADR, fireworks are scheduled for 9PM). Watch fireworks from there, then drive back to ASMo to crash for DHS Star Wars day Sunday morning.
