When is Your Fall Break?

Which week does your children's school have their fall break?

We're going week of Oct 19th so just wondering if many schools are off then? I'm from Canada so fall break is new news to me.

My kids don't get a fall break. In fact, I know of no schools IRL that have falls breaks. But it seems to me that the schools that do schedule it around Columbus Day.

This year ours is Oct 6-10. So our trip is Oct 3-10.

Between October 10 to 20, we only go to school 3 days (2 days for kindergarteners). End of the quarter is 10/9 so we don't worry much about the missing 3 days.

Ours is October 6-10 this year.

Fall Break is more popular with schools that start their year in late July or early August- year round, modified year round, and many schools in the southern part of the US.

Charlotte NC metro schools don't have a Fall Break (except for a few charter and magnet schools that operate on a modified year round schedule). We get Columbus Day as a teacher workday, but that is it.

DD will be attending a boarding school in Durham- they follow a trimester schedule, similar to a traditional college schedule. She will have her first trimester break from Thursday, November 6 through Monday, November 10.

That was going to be the dates of our next trip but realized it was impossible due to football schedules. A trip that couldn't start till Sunday and had to end by Friday was just too short. So instead we are going in just over a week, returning the day before school starts back

So by going Oct 19th, we're probably after these school breaks? Fingers crossed.

Our schools have fall break Oct 11-26, as do many schools in the Indianapolis area. Last year, friends who went the second week reported larger crowds than in past years. So yes, I would expect it to be crowded, but not horrendously so. I think most days the crowd levels are supposed to be 5 or 6 with some 7s on the weekend.

Oh, and this is our third year on a "balanced calendar." Schools start end of July, 2 weeks in Oct, 2 weeks at Christmas, 2 weeks in March/April, out end of May. We love it!

Ours is 1/2 day Oct 30 and full day Oct 31. Certainly not my preference

We have ours the 2nd or 3rd week of September(seems to switch around every few years). I do think it is more common for schools not to have a fall break then to have one so fall is always and awesome time to go to Disney. Having said that many people will take their children out of school to take advantage of the free dining that Disney offers during the fall.

Our schools in Upstate NY don't get a fall break. There is a long weekend for Columbus day and Veterans Day, and then Thanksgiving break, but these are all about 2 days, no full weeks.

We arrive 10/21, staying until 10/30. Based on what I've been reading, free dining, AK hours being extended, the giant list of people going , I think we are in for some crowds.

But, it will still be great.
