We are trying to plan for a Halloween season trip and I would like to know when all the California and surrounding states 2012 Fall Break's happen?

I know here in Utah there is one October 18th & 19th.

Please post away to help one another better plan our trips out...

Thanks in advance!

Are you talking about school Fall Break?
Not all of us have them.
I don't and the surrounding school districts in my immediate area don't have them.
You can always search surrounding schools districts in Burbank and Anaheim and click on their 2012-2013 Academic calendar and that will tell you if they have a fall break and when it is (If they even have them)

Most schools in Arizona (especially in the valley) have fall break the week of October 8th.

I'm in Utah also and our Fall Break is Oct. 11-15 - Alpine School Dist.

Most schools in Southern California do not have a fall break. I'm not sure about Northern CA.

California has a larger percentage of schools that do non traditional schedules.

Still they are in the minority and can't make a day busy. Those busy days are weekends when all school are out.

Those that still do year round will have a larger break (3-4 weeks). Our schools in our area don't have a fall break with the exception of one charter school.

The majority of fall breaks I hear about are for surrounding states like Arizona and Utah.

We are planning on being there Oct. 11-15. Our kids are on break, but we're sending them to stay with relatives, and we're going without them! Before you think we are totally heartless, we do have a WDW trip planned with them for 2013. I am expecting to see a lot of Arizona and Utah people there. We did this in Oct. 2010 with the kids, and the weekdays weren't very busy at all. Of course, this year will be busier and set all kinds of attendance records, but I won't care because I'll by flying around the parks with no stroller and no dependents. :cool1:

As far as I know Oregon does not have a fall break. However because of budget cuts there are many 3 day weekends. At least for the school district I work in.

Columbus day (in Oct.) is usually a 3 day weekend for Oregon schools.

i just moved from a teaching job in Modesto and someone else asked about Northern CA schools

I taught for three years in three difference districts and Modesto didn't have a fall break, the neighboring town of Turlock didn't have a fall break BUT the neighboring town of Ripon and Newman both had fall breaks. It kind of depends, plus a lot of schools are also calling their fall breaks furlough days instead due to budget cuts.

I'm near the Sac area and we get 1 day for veterans day which last year was combined with a teacher workday but for 12 I am not sure if it is. It always USED to be the friday before Thanksgiving but now they have moved it and next year my youngest will be in middle school and they take THEIRS in Jan around MLK.

But our particular district gets an entire week at Thanksgiving if you could consdier that a "fall" break. ;)

Oregon doesn't do Fall break... heck we don't start school till the 1st week of September! But depending on the school district there are usually a couple 3 day weekends in October. This year we had the 7th and the 14th off.

Why is it planned to be so busy and record setting? I'm starting to rethink my dates!

I responded to you in the other thread. (Hope it made sense. The board was moving so S-L-O-W, and I was going crazy by that point.)

October really is a great time to go. Pleasant weather, manageable crowds, and attractions ready to go for the holiday season. The Halloween Party is just as good as the one in Walt Disney World with its own special touches, and the Halloween decorations just add to the fun, festive atmosphere. There will be an ebb and flow to the number of people who are there, but it's not too terrible. And after hearing about the number of people at the Leap Day celebration, October's numbers should be downright fantastic.

We'll go and spend a few days at my in-laws in Corona then head down probably the 11th to stay in the park to meet up with my siblings and their families. I'm thinking we'll be there the 14th to the 17th or 18th. Weekends will be a bit busier because of the local traffic, but I really think it will be a great week to go. In my experience, Utah's break (and Arizona's) didn't make for a terrible time.

Oh, and for the Fall Break question I'll combine the two Utah answers.
October 11, 12, and 15 (Alpine School District in Utah County)
October 18 and 19 (The other districts for UEA)
