when is too early????

I am very anxious to put the plan in motion and start booking things for our next trip. We are not going until aug of 2002. I want to know about airfare, I usually call and book and do not get the best price. When should I start? Where should I go to online or numbers to call for the best possible price? I also need a rental car and want to stay with a company onsite like, avis,national. any others? I forgot to mention that I will be traveling from ny either laguardia airport of jfk. Thanks for any help!!

I booked our flight to WDW the first possible day I could from Delta Express. We are going in May 2002 and I booked it in June of 2001. The room ar CSR has been booked since May. Go for it!

I'm with Buzz2001 on this one. We fly Delta out of LaGuardia, and try to book it the earliest possible date, about 331 days out. You usually get a pretty good fare then.

I know Delta Express flies out of JFK, and Delta Express and regular Delta out of LGA.

The only hard part is making a committment to a trip so far in advance. I'm dragging my feet this year booking my flights because of major expenses coming up this year: DD graduating HS, starting college, and needing a new car. (Don't know what if any scholarships she may get yet) Once you book the flights, it'll cost you $50 each ticket to change plans on Delta Express, $75 on Delta Shuttle, and $100 on regular Delta flights. Other airlines have similar fees.

I am leaving in January on USAIR. As an ex travel agent I can tell you that if the class of service you book goes down in price the airlines are obligated to refund the difference in your fare. Usually V class is the one that goes down.
