I have already booked my trip for March 2012, but I am having trouble finding flights that are reasonably priced. I understand we are going at a busy time (the week before Easter), so I realize the flights will be more than what I paid last August. When is the best time for me to book flights. Will the prices come down at all or should I consider booking now??? We are flying from NJ.

If you feel comfortable with the price, then book them. It is hard to tell what the prices are going to do these days. The closer the date gets, the faster the cheaper tickets sell out.

You still have a bit of time to watch the prices. If you go to www.kayak.com you can set up an alert for the dates you want to travel and they will send you an email daily or weekly about the best price available. Watch this for a while and you'll get an idea of what a good price is. When you see one that's particularly low, book it!

I booked in February for August (6 months to the day) and got $220.00 non stop out of Newark with Continental. I kept going right to the airline websites 1 month before and noticed they are the highest on Thursday thru Sunday. For 4 weeks they dropped below $245.00 every Wednesday early early morning. Keep an eye on it, you have got some time.

Thanks. I have signed up for KAYAK and have been getting alerts. The alerts show the prices going up. I think I will wait a little bit.

Doreen, I flew Continental out of Newark last August and I think I paid $186. The prices for Continental right now are outrageous....$700 and up. I am praying they drop at some point....if not I will be flying a different airline this time.

You are right about Continental. American Express Rewards is ending their
Partnership with Continental's Rewards Program in a couple of months and I wanted to use all of my existing points before it expired so I only ended up paying around $186.00. Otherwise I would have gone with Jet Blue because of the 1st waived suitcase discount. I think the mergers in the airline along with the gas prices are causing crazy prices. I looked today, our flight is up to $584.00. Good luck!
