When is the LEAST crowded time to go?

I think the days of Disney being quiet and empty are long gone. Probably the "least crowded" time will be after New Years during the month of January, expect Martin Luther King, Jr. weekend.

I have been to CBR and other WDW resorts many many times and even when the resort is full it is very quiet. There are times that the food court is busier but never have thought it was bad.

September is a nice quiet time, that is realative speaking of course. Disney is always busy.

we went at the beginning of feb and it was fantastic then.....

I'd say the last week of January, first week of February. It's our favorite time of year to go. Only problem is, the weather can be a bit precitable, but other than that, it's great!

I've now stayed at WDW is December, Jan, Feb, August and October. Late Jan early Feb are by far the slowest. The weekdays during that time are as slow as it gets I believe. Of course each year it seems to get busier and busier....but it's still the greatest place on earth :-)

You don't know how happy this makes me!!! :Pinkbounc I went in June of this year and we didn't get to see as much as we would have liked because of the crowds, so going the last week of january/early february 2005 is our shot at really enjoying the park.

Jan is usually very quiet as far as Disney goes. I have been many times in April and the crowds were extremely long compared to Jan. You can literally walk on to just about all the attractions in jan

The problems, however, are because it is so slow, the parks are not open nearly as late as during busy times of the year.

and you can get very cold weather in jan. I dont know the averages, but once I went in jan and was burnt to a crisp and the very next time we were running around looking for hot chocolate during illuminations and spending money on new sweatshirts.

On[ our honeymoon, we were there the week after MLK day and it was quite empty. I think the longest we waited was ~10 minutes for Tower of Terror and it was the new ride at the time (this was 1995). It was not warm though by any means. I think one day we wore shorts cause it hit about 72...the rest of the time it was in the 60's and looking at pictures we had sweatshirts & jeans on at least in the mornings...by afternoon the sweatshirts had come off for short sleeved tops.

:earboy2: No No NO...Jan/Feb is sooo crowded! I don't know, it must be an invasion from the South American Countries..I think they have their school breaks at that time....or maybe it's those Australians taking their summer break at that time...whatever it is..it's the worst time to go.....

(shhhh.....don't let the others know that this is a great time to go or our family will have to wait in a line....we've been much too spoiled going at this time and we don't want it messed with! :))

So, stick with June or August...I hear it's much more reasonable then.

Isnt it great, we have been going in Jan now for the last few years. Its almost like 2 totally diferent places, the difference is amazing. We are able to hit any ride we want without having to spend 10 hours in each park. 2 years ago we also went in April and it tokk all day at MK just to do splash, big thunder, and a couple others.

The only real problem is you are taking a huge chance if you are looiking for to warm up those winter months, its probably not happening.

Just make sure you pay attention to the park hours, theres plenty of time to do everything, but you cant get rolling around 3 in the afternoon thinking the parks are open till 9, 10, or midnight like other times.

We went on my daughter's bday MLK day and it was nearly empty (it was awesome). We rode everything in Magic Kingdom by noon! And we parked so close that the trams weren't running. We had a character lunch in Epcot and they spent so much time w/ her because no one else was there hardly (it was her 2nd bday so that was so neat). We always go during the week and the day we went was very chilly (like highs in the 50s). Were taking her again this year on the 13th to Epcot for the Princess storybook breakfast - hopefully its cool and empty :D

I have been in early February twice..and caught HUGE crowds both times. MGM was the park that was an absolute nightmare (both times). I believe there is a cheerleading competition that happens in February and the influx of people and in particular-- teenagers, was unbelievable!! Of course the week-end was by far the most crowded.

As for the hotels, we stayed at YC and Swan in February and both were very, very quiet. In December we stayed at BWI and WL.. BWI was quiet and WL was pretty busy. WE stayed at CR in July and it was busy, busy, busy and loud!

I did also stumble across that cheerleader thing, it still wasn't very crowded....but lots of squealing teenage girls around. Still Jan is a great time. Can get a tad chilly, but considering Michigan is lucky to break 20 it's nice to be in the 60's.

In 2003 The Cheerleading nationals were held in the second week of February but this year the Cheerleading Competition is in April at the other non-Disney Park (Universal Studios). Shouldnt pose a problem this year.

Just a heads up on the the first week in February - there will be a UDA dance team competition going on in Disney at that time. Don't know how crowded it will make the parks, but I'm guessing it may be the same as the cheerleading competitions. DD's dance team made the nationals over the summer, but were not able to raise enough money to get down there  I was hoping to get in an extra trip this year too!

DH and I went for our anniv. in January 2001 and it was WONDERFUL. Barely a line anywhere!

I plan on going the first week of February so you can bet it will be crowded as all get out. This is the first I heard of and it took me a long time to find any information on it.

Here is the schedule:

2005 National Cheerleading Championships
Wide World of Sports Complex
College Championship -- January 15-19, 2005
National Dance Team -- January 30 - February 3, 2005
National High School -- February 6 - 10, 2005

Hopefully it wont be too bad. Does anybody know how many people usually come to these things?

we have been there the past 4 years in mid to late august, and it did not seem crowded at all, and the weather was always nice. one year a little more rain than usual, but not bad.
