It is my understanding that computers are updated by about 6:00am.
In theory, you could check in as-soon-as the computers are up and running and occupy your room if (that's a big if) it were available. Availability at that time of day would happen only if the unit were not occupied the previous night.
They do not have to clean the rooms if no one used them the night before!! Most places do not have 100 percent occupancy. You could get lucky, when I first joined DVC this would happen all the time, those days are gone forever. DVC is very popular now.
KANSAS,
I would plan to get into the room after 4PM, then if it is available earlier you can be pleasantly surprised....
I suspect the time you get your unit depends on how specific your room request is and what the Resort occupancy rate is the night before.
We checked into our OKW unit this past November at 1:30pm and our room was available immediately. We had a two BR dedicated unit and our only request was non-smoking.
I think if you are there at 8:00am in the morning, you could check in--you just may not get your room immediately.
While you can check in early, they do not have to have your room ready until 4:00pm. That's the official check in time for the DVC resorts.
Many of us have been able to get into our rooms much earlier than that. It has nothing to do with anything in particular that we did or didn't do. The room simply was ready early.
Depending on how busy it is, you may have to wait until after 4:00pm to access your room.
We usually check in around 7.30 or 8 am. We have them hold our luguage for us. In all of the time we have gone we have been luckly a couple fo times. If your room is not ready they will give you a card with a number on to call during the day to see if it is ready. this way to can go off and do what you want. You call they tell you if it is ready and then you can come back to the hotel if you wish and go to you room as you room key will be activated
Twice we have been able to check in when we arrive
This last trip we just got home from we checked in early our room was not ready. We had a 2 bedrrom and around 1.pm I called and it was ready then. So we came back from the park went to our room got our luguage and then went back.
Sunday is the busiest check in day at the DVC Resorts. This is due to the lower points on Sunday after the higher priced weekend nights.
I would plan on checking in, as others have stated, stowing the bags with Bell Services, and going about the day in the parks or as planned. Then at 4 pm or after you can access your room and have the bags brought up. Good luck!
