when is the cheerleading competition this year?

I don't know if there's more than one cheer competition, but the one my granddaughter is going to is Jan. 4-6. Not at Disney...in Orlando.

UCA competition is March 6-10. There is a competition Jan 18-20 and I think the dance competion is the first week of Feb. We spent 5 years in competition....I try to avoid these dates because of the crowds. (also because I can't help myself..I have to go watch and say hi to folks that I know)

POP Warner group will be in WDW from 12/2-12/8. Since you are staying at the AKL your stay will not be impacted.
The groups stay in the Allstar Sports and Music Resorts and the Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter.
