when is the best time to purchase magicbands on sale?

i think I missed the boat -- a couple of weeks ago there were a wide range of MagicBands available, some as low as $11.99. I waited to purchase and now the lowest is $23.00. If I wait to purchase, will the prices only go up or will heavily discounted items become available again?

If you have an upcoming trip and are looking on MDE, their stock changes regularly. Currently I can see bands priced at $10.00, $24.99, $25.00 and $34.99.

Note, you will need to purchase bands for your entire group at the same time. Once you purchase for one/some and complete that order, you will not be able to purchase for others.

Ok, now I'm confused. We are going in February. There is one more person who had a possibility of joining us, but do I understand you to be saying that Disney won't allow him if we have already placed a magicband order? That seems a bit like putting the cart (a $20.00 band) before the horse (a multi-hundred dollar ticket) from Disney's point of view. Thanks for bringing this to my attention and to any clarification you can add.

On ShopDisney today they have a few deeply discounted Magic Band+, they are holiday themed. One is Halloween and one Christmas, I think after the extra 25% off they are $15. If you buy your Magic Bands through your MDE account, you do have to order them all at once. You cannot order for one family member then go back and order another one at a later date.

You can order Magic Bands off of ShopDisney whenever, it's just the MDE purchases that need to be made at once.

Honestly, your best bet for discounts on ShopDisney are times like Black Friday and their holiday sales. They're having their "Twice Upon a Year" sale right now. You may find some clearance bands on sale. Other than that, the band prices are most likely back to regular price.

You can also purchase Magic Bands at Disney Springs or the parks after you arrive, if you don't find anything online that you like.

I hate to be the high-maintenance poster -- but I'm still confused. We just purchased annual passes for us and some members of the immediate family and planned to make more than one trip this year, attendees of each trip to be determined later (some we have not purchased the annual pass for bc the verdict is still out on them). So are you saying they are shut out of trips even beyond our first if the magic bands are not purchased with the people going on the first trip? This is much more complicated than I thought it would be.

Just to clarify, you would just have to order all the magic bands at one time for everyone on the same reservation on MDE. You could add or delete people later on, only the pre-arrival magic bands ordered for your party on MDE would have to be done at the same time.

Your question and my response was only about MBs not about people being allowed to go/not go. The purchase of MBs in no way disqualifies someone from being able to go to Disney.

What I was (poorly) trying to say is, if you have 4 people on your resort reservation, if you choose to purchase the discounted bands you are eligible for due to having a resort stay booked, all MBs must be ordered in one order.

To order discounted bands you are eligible to purchase:
- open the MDE app
- scroll on main page and select your resort reservation
- select, ‘Choose MagicBands’


- select ‘Get started’



- ‘Select’ one person in your party
- click ‘grid’
- available MBs will be displayed. To see the price, click on a MB
- you can select MB for each person here.

This is where you must choose bands for each person in your group before you finalize your purchase. This can be a bit challenging as inventory changes often.
