When is the best time to book spring break airfare on SW?

SW's schedule is not out yet past Feb. 7th. I'm guessing the schedule for March will be out sometime in Aug.

I know the dates I'd like to travel and was wondering if airfare (especially during spring break time) is cheaper as soon as the schedule is released, or closer to the actual travel dates.

It depends on where you are traveling from. We fly SWA out of Chicago Midway and in my experience, fares are always at their highest the day they come out and go down over time. When SWA extended fares to include December, one way flights from MDW to MCO were $166/pp. A couple of weeks ago SW ran one of their specials and I was able to get our flights going down for $99/pp. With that said, I have seen people post that are flying from NY, NJ, etc that it's best to grab flights right when fares are released as they only go up from there. So, IMO, it could vary depending on where you are flying from.
