When is the best time for Hilton Head?

Average temperature about 85 - water warm - less rainfall, etc., perhaps less crowds? Does anyone have a favorite time to go? There is no airport there right? How far is it? Any advice from any one for 2 adults and one beach loving 15 year old kid?

September/October will have great temps and smaller crowds. We have enjoyed going to HH in Feb, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October and November (have not been there in January of February- but wouldn't mind that either).

There is an airport about 2-3 miles from the resort (commuter planes arrive mostly from Charlotte, I think) but Savannah is only a 45 minute drive and has more airline options.

The beach is wonderful with minimal drop off or rip tides. Lots of water related activities are available year round.
