I have heard there is a new ride called Stiches Great Escape opening this fall. Anyone know about when this is due to open I will be there the last two weeks of October and hope to check it out!!

I would also like to know when. We will be there in Sept so my fingers are crossed. Of course like other rides in Disney, they will probably open it before the announce it and people will get to ride it.

No official date yet has been announced. Still waiting for the soft opening which will preceed.

Disney keeps saying this Fall, but who knows. I'll be there the last week of October so I'm praying.

Some people are already posting about riding it on a sneakpreview thing. Word has it soft opening for AP members starting Sept 1st.

Does anyone have any idea what kind of ride this will be? I haven't heard anything about it.

Assuming it's similar to the attraction it's replacing, it isn't a ride. Think of it as a special effects experience. The Alien Encounter attraction it replaces was believed to be too scary for young children, so it is believed the new Stitch version will have more humor and less surprise effects.

Too bad too. I think Disney needs some things that are aimed at teens and adults. Not everything needs to be young child friendly.

I can't imagine Disney changing the attraction's special effects very much. I think it will be along the same lines as AE with Stitch being "transported" from one chamber to another (in the circular room) and then "escaping" (hence the titile "Stitches Great Escape") from the inside chamber. Probably darkness then with Stitch going around the room "playing" with the audience.:hyper:
The best thing is that Stitch is supposed to be one of the most sophisticated animatronic characters yet. Around 280 moving parts. Just my speculation though.:earsboy:

I think I read on another post that part of the "escape" part was going to be Stitch escaping from the attraction and wreaking havoc on other attractions in the park. Not sure how they might pull this off, but it sounds like there may be small segments of other WDW attractions represented in "Stitch's Great Escape". Can anyone else confirm hearing something like this?

That would be cool if they would incorporate sounds from around the park (i.e. Pirates singing yo ho, Splash Mtn sounds, Small world, etc.) while your're sitting there in the dark being "poked at" or whatever by Stitch.

You mean like Mission Space that's been open less than a year?

Or Soarin' due in 2005?

Or the MGM Auto Stunt Show due in 2005?

Or Expedition Everest due in 2006?

I think WDW does a very good job of balancing adult attractions with kiddie-themed attractions. Besides, just because "Stitch" is dialing-down the terror level doesn't mean that it won't be entertaining for adults as well.

I have read countless complaints about how Disney made Alien Encounter too scary for young children. The point being that they intended for AE to be a scary experience vs. the thrill or Mission Space or Everest. Big difference between not liking the motion of thrill rides and something aimed at scaring people.

What is Expedition Everest about?

It is a roller coaster being built in The Animal Kingdom, set to open sometime in 2006.

According to the Disney Magasine Stitch's Great Escape is do toopen sometime in November.

OK. That's actually a much better argument than your original "Disney is neglecting us poor adults" approach. ;)

Honestly, I liked AE. But I have to admit that the "fear factor" is pretty much limited to the first time you try it. After that it might as well be a high-tech PotC with a darker theme.

I would enjoy making return visits with WDW newbies so that I could see their reaction, but I don't recall ever doing AE by myself or with my wife just for the heck of it.

In the end, I'm not overly disappointed to see it go, and will at least give "Stitch" a try before passing judgement.

 Not my fault you read it as "poor adults" rather than the way it was always intended. It was also never intended as an argument, just an opinion.
