When is spring break?

I know the particular weeks vary among different schools, but if one wants to avoid spring break crowds, what dates should be avoided? Is the first week of March safe? I'm beginning to plan the next trip a little.

I hope so! We have our trip scheduled for the 11th-13th of March, and I am hoping that we are too early for the spring break crowds. In my personal experiences, I haven't seen a spring break happen any earlier than the second half of March to mid April.

I am a teacher in Oregon (and did work in WA for a time) and I think you are safe planning for the first week of March. I would avoid the week after Easter!

Easter 2009 is in the middle of April so I suspect the first week in march would be a decent time to go.

Many AZ schools are on spring break the second week of March. They don't plan their breaks around Easter. First week is normally pretty safe to avoid the spring breakers. DLR will begin increasing their hours the second week, and will keep longer hours until a week after Easter.
