When is Pop Warner week?

Obviously, you ignored the entire context of my post to imply that I'm against kids having fun. So, here it the section you took my quote from.

Sorry - I wasn't trying to offend you - just pointing out what I thought was an odd contradiction, that you want to see kids having fun, but not 1000 kids having fun... I guess I'm not sure how many is too many in a park that is so large. I wasn't trying to instigate an argument by any means. Point taken.

Unfortunately, the kids that are down their foe this huge week are watched by the organization they represent. I know not many of their parents go, becuase of the cost. The child is paid for by their organization. I have heard some horror storeis, but being part of Pop Warner for the last 22 years, I have yet to go donw there for the expierence. I will be making my 1st trip this year with the league our organization is affiliated with and I am looking forward to it. Hope to see you all there.

I am thrilled to have been in WDW THREE TIMES during Pop Warner week with my cheerleaders, I am also a coach. I have had ONE instance where a parent could not afford to go with their child. The cheerleader traveled with another coach as part of her family. So . . . the above statement is not ALWAYS TRUE. Also, the children ARE NOT paid for by the organization (ours anyway . . . I WISH!!). Some costs are deferred through fundraising, but not all.

Even thought thats were they should be staying, a lot of the other resorts get the overflow. At CBR in Jan the entire Aruba and most of Jamica section was filled with Pop Warner

These were definately NOT Pop Warner participants. The ONLY Pop Warner function held in WDW is Nationals which is in December, December 31 is the END of the Pop Warner season!!

I DO know how hard it is... before moving to FL, we lived in NH and served on the board of a small-town Pop Warner league... best of luck for a great season! Unfortunately, now that we live nearby, going to Nationals is a one-day event... no enjoying the parks or resorts for us... its back to business as usual, as it is a school week.

Isnt that the truth!!!!! I wish!! My DD is on an allstar team and our gym does not pay for any of the fees. Its up to us to eitehr raise the money or it comes from our pockets. but.. it is well worth it!! Its so much fun for the girls and the parents!! We get to travel all over.

Our team will be in a National competition at the Swan/Dolphin next month and we can not wait!!!! March 18-21.
Our girls are well behaved, and if they are not I would kick their behinds!!

That's okay, Karen. Pop Warner threads are becoming like mug thread and pool-hopping threads. People get emotional pretty quick--me included. Sorry. However, in the post above I was talking about thousands of kids in the resorts--not the parks. There have been few complaints of the kids in the parks. I think anyone wanting a quiet evening after the parks would be wise to avoid the resorts where the Pop Warner groups are staying. Again, these are not bad kids--they're just kids. But a resort has a different atmosphere with families with children as opposed to thousands of groups of teenagers.

Just found out there are actually two competitions in Disney March 16-21st!! One is spirit cheer and one is Americheer!! Its also the weekend starting spring break for palm beach county schools!! So that is a major heads up for you!!!

We are heading to POR in December this year and whilst not in the least bothered by kids of any age enjoying themselves, it does seem that people get heated over some of the Pop Warner childrens lack of good manners when it comes to eating establishments and queuing for things. I have read many comments regarding the Pop Warner outings but have not experienced this time of the year personally. I wouldnt want to put down someones achievement at these competitions but likewise I would not want to have my own holiday spoilt by large groups of teens misbehaving - not that Im saying they all would.Are you aware of them in the parks at all? In DLP I have seen large groups of school age children from 7/8 year olds to 15 and whilst the younger ones are fine, the older ones dump their teachers at the nearest coffee shop and then spend their time seeing how many ways they can queue jump!
As someone who doesnt know what this is all about, could someone give me an insight into what the Pop Warner kids do? I see they are cheerleaders and football players - so is it that they compete for medals/cups in recognition of their routines or something? Do they have to compete every day they attend Disney or do they get time off to enjoy rides etc? We have football clubs that go to our holiday camps in my neck of the woods but they are all under 16s and the campsites and competitons are tiny compared to Disney and Pop Warner! We went to Dorset (a small coastal town in England) for a week and half the site was taken up with 9 year old boys and girls competing in a football league series of playoffs - now that was noisy!! Cant say they were swearing or kissing each other but boy oh boy were they enthusiastic - especially with a few cans of cola inside them!! Lol! They were sweet really - but presumably not on a par with Pop Warner expeditions!!

mmm. Well we are planning to go in December (9th-17th), too.

Although I'm quite sure that 1,000 children won't be noticed at the parks, I have some concerns about the resorts themselves. I haven't made a reservation yet and was wondering if the value resorts (Particularly, ASMo) would be booked "solid".

As I'm not from the US, I would appreciate any help you could give on this regards.

We were at WDW during Pop Warner week in December 04. We never really noticed them in the parks - just saw a few in very small groups occasionally in the evening. I think they had exclusive use of MGM after 6 PM or so on that Friday night. The people who seem to have the most issues are those who stayed at the same resorts where the bulk of the kids stayed. And not everyone at those resorts indicated that there was any problem. I think that if you can stay at a different resort from the kids, you'll barely notice that they are there.
