Sorry for such a weird question but I'm from Canada and it's not on my calendar...

We are planning a week in January to take my friend Nat who has helped us A LOT when we opened our motel so I want to say thank you to her with a trip...

I want the best week and low crowds and I hear MLK weekend is bad...Is it???

thanks for any advice and I would appreciate any hints for January as this will be our first time in January for a trip...

Thanks

It is observed on Jan. 20th
Sorry i can't help with hints for Jan. I have never been at WDW then.

We are going MLK weekend only because our dd's district honor's chorus is performing at MK. We have been twice before for this event and yes, it is crowded. There are quite a few locals (Floridians and even those in Georgia) who go for the long weekend.

Good luck planning your trip!

We had the misfortune of being stuck in Magic Kingdom on the Saturday of Martin Luther King weekend a few years ago. It was PACKED!!! If you do go this time of year, just try to avoid MK Sat & Sun.

So since it's the 20th what days would be crowded???

!6-21???

What do you think?

We were at WDW the week before MLK week-end last year. There were NO crowds untill about Thursday night. We begain to see them increase then. We had planned not to go into the parks on Friday, because we had 5 day hoppers and assumed rightly that parks would be more crowded this day. We did use WDW transportation and used the MK as a transfer point and the crowds were much greater than the day before. i would avoid the Friday- Monday at least. I do expect that a slight increase would lenger over the whole next week.

We will be there too! January is still an awesome time to go to WDW. As already mentioned, plan short trips to the parks over MLK weekend - maybe a nice, fancy dinner Saturday night at a deluxe resort (DO NOT go to MK Saturday night). The weeks leading up to and immediately following MLK weekend are not crowded at all! Great time to go!

Thanks for the advice...Gotta love the DIS!
