I am pretty sure that it is not set in stone. Growing up in Jersey, I think that it changed, but usually the first of second. They never wanted it the week before Thanksgiving. I know some districts will close the full week while others will be closed only that Thursday and Friday. I have family members that are teachers in Jersey and will I will try to find out if they know next years schedule yet.
So, is it still crowded the week after? or just the week of? This is exactly when I am planning on going this year. I plan on visiting family on Marco Island that weekend, then driving up and checking in on Sunday, Nov 12 and going to the parks Mon-Fri. I should be ok that week, right?
Ok, I'm in NJ but I'm still not exactly sure what "Jersey week" in Disney means. I thought it had something to do with Teacher Conference days (where the kids have off) and I thought that always fell around election day. Am I totally wrong??
I can tell you from our school calendar for the current school year (Nov2004) our schools were closed Nov. 2nd (Tues), Nov. 4th (Thurs), and Nov. 5th (Fri.)
I've always heard people mention that is the week they go to Disney because the kids don't miss much school, having a dd in kindergarten I'm just starting to figure this stuff out.
This year Jersey Week was Nov. 1-7. DH and I happened to be honeymooning there as well, and we flew down and flew home with planes loaded with Jerseyans. We traveled to and from Philly, and spoke to a number of people who said they were flying out of there because every last Newark to Orlando connection was booked! Since the kids had off for election day (11/2) and state teachers' conference (11/4 and 11/5), and would miss just two days of school, I think the Disney traffic was heavier than normal.
For this coming year, the conference runs 11/10-12, so Jersey Week will be based on that. People will start trickling in on 11/6, but your heaviest crowds will likely be Thursday-Sunday.
Good luck,

Just on a whim, I checked Delta return flights non-stop from MCO to EWR (Newark) on November 12 and they are already 80-90% full! I guess it must be the end of Jersey Week! And now definately our arrival day!!
Keep in mind that is also Veterans' Day weekend, which would also account for the full planes. Most likely will be Super soap weekend and Festival of the Masters too. It will be a busy weekend/week at WDW. We will be there earlier because I had already seen the JW dates. Oct. 26-Nov. 6 for us. Also, in case you are not aware, Disney has changed their seasons and now this time of year is regular rate season, no longer value season as it had been in the past. I also believe food and wine has been extended until mid-November.
