When is it "too late" to change resorts?

I'm frantically trying to book 4 rooms at FQ or CS for Labor Day and am not having much luck... I let a CS reservation slip through my fingers the other night and I don't want it to happen again....

My question is, if 4 rooms open at another moderate and I book them (and pay in full up front since it's a MYW/dining package and we're less than 45 days out)...
And then I check back and 4 rooms open at the resorts I want, when is it too late to change?

Does it matter if I use AAA or Disney directly?

What if a code opens up and I've paid in full? or am I just pushing my luck there?

You can change up to the day before your trip, if there is availability. Needing four rooms is probably what's making it so difficult for you. As far as discounts go, there will probably not be any more codes released since your trip is coming up soon.

I believe that you can change laterally (moderate to moderate) or upgrade just about any time without penalty. If you downgrade (moderate to value) you may have to pay a fee. Good luck!

i've been trying to get ONE room at a mod for labor day weekend to NO AVAIL! you might try WL as that seems to be available (a bit more than a mod, but not as pricey as some deluxes) and the rooms are bigger than mods, so maybe your group can re-align and need only 3 rooms?

another option is to try expedia or lastminutetravel.com as a few days ago they were showing some availability for CBR...

You can also use this site's sponsor, Dreams Unlimited, to work to find rooms for you. They got me the ressie at All Star Sports for the week just after Labor Day cheaply. it may be less hassle if you let someone else do all the "elbow work".
