When is it not park hopping?

What happened to the ticket sticky? I am trying to help my son & his fiancé plan their honeymoon & trying to explain tickets. I was going to refer her to the ticket sticky, but since we have the new forums it has disappeared.:scared:

It did not disappear with creation of the "new forums."
DIS member and WDW CM, Cheshire Figment, first posted the "Everything about WDW Tickets" Sticky in May of 2007 and maintained and updated it for years.

Then, for a never disclosed reason, the sticky stopped being updated.
It had been just sitting there at the top of this forum, getting more out-of-date month-after-month.

Finally, after it had not been updated for 2 years, or so, the moderator(s) severed it's
"Sticky status" and is has been drifting slowly away to the bottom of the sea of past threads.
I, and many others on this forum with knowledge of ticket rules, have been trying to keep
everyone up-to-date in ticket matters whenever there is a question posted.

The thread still exists, it's just not a sticky anymore. Beware: it hasn't been updated in over a year.

It was last updated on June 30, 2013.

It was so out-of-date that it has no mention of MagicBands or RFID tickets.

Thanks. I was wondering why I couldn't find it. Is there someplace I can get up to date info for them. I have tried to explain, but it is not getting through.

What, specifically, are you having trouble with?

If I have the waterpark and more option but not hopping, can I go to Blizzard Beach in the morning and MK the same evening??

Thanks! I have our last day as a " kids choice" and my oldest said, can we go to a waterpark? I already have 2 Waterpark days planned but I thought maybe we could do one in the morning and then go to a park after a late lunch..

I have explained park hopping & water parks & more & they just don't get the stuff like you can go to a water park in the morning & a main park the tea.st of the day without hopper. Only need hopper to go to 2 main parks in a day. But if the go to 2 minor parks in a day that uses up 2 of their extras. I guess I will just have to type it up this way so she can see it in writing. Hearing it & seeing it are 2 different things. I could talk to them till I am blue in the face but written down goes into the brain easier for both of them. Time to get to work writing I guess. Thanks everyone.

Cheshire Figment's thread will still work for that. You should be able to find it quickly with a google search.

Adding the Hopper upgrade to a ticket that already has the WPF&M option is only $26, plus tax.
If they add that, it doesn't matter if they don't understand what is or is not "hopping."
For the theme parks, they can just do it.

I couldn't fathom not having park hopper.

With dining, going back to the room, seeing a second park at night; I couldn't imagine not having them.

I'd be a crabby mess if I was at one park for 8+ hours straight without retreating back to my room midday or getting dinner elsewhere.

We do mid day breaks away from the parks all the time but until this past trip always returned to the park we'd been in. Now we have an AP. We still returned to the original park from that morning many days

Yeah a base ticket doesn't mean you have to stay there until closing. You can leave and come back. You just can't gain admittance to another main park that same day... However, we have had really successful base days (not since 2013 tho) and really successful hop days. So each person has a style. But you can still leave and come back to that same original park that day...

I agree. Having PH gives you freedom. Not having it is too depressing to think about. If I miss a ride or show one day I can come back on another. Plus ADR 's are so much more convenient. Glad they are required for discounts on fd.

We've never hopped, but always take breaks. This year we got hoppers because they were required for free dining, so we are going to try them. But for over $300 for 6 of us, I am fine staying at the same park.

We have been going to WDW for over 15 years. In the early days, we always got park hoppers and hopped every trip. About 5 years ago, I bought tickets without hoppers thinking that I could add them after we arrived. We didn't even think about hopping until day 5 of 7 days. At that point, it would have cost us about $240 to change them to hoppers for most probably just one night. We didn't buy them and haven't since. This year we upgraded to Annual Passes since we are planning two trips in the next calendar year. It will be interesting to see if we now start hopping again.

As APs, I doubt you will give hopping a second thought. You can still be laid back, even more so, since you know you can come back any time. Sometimes, we are beat and go home for the day. Other times, its just too nice a night, and we want to go ride rides after Illuminations! Best thing, we have found, there just does not appear to be much science to some REALLY crazy busy days and then not busy days. Sometimes we just say blah let's switch parks... I think you will love the freedom you get as APs! @Julylady
