First we had the primaries, then the general election, now we have a new President. When are DISers going to start acting like adults again? The pettiness, accusations of racism, "kool aid" drinking, BDS, etc can all end now. Can we rewind and be the DIS we were in 2007? :thumbsup2

Really? 2007? I don't think I want to go back there, thank you.

Although, come to think of it, a lot of old friends might still be here

It's not going to end, I don't think. Everyone has to have a "side." The "winning" or the "losing," you still have to have a side. You(not anyone in particular) can't just be an American and want the best for the country. You can't be the more adult person and try to make a difference and make a better America. No, it's about the mud slinging and name calling and whining that someone lost or someone won.

I'm at the point where we shouldn't be called the UNITED States of America. We aren't united and no where near it. I'm thinking we should just seperate the country into two parts and every 3 months we can peek our head on the other side of the wall and see how the "other side" is living. Each side could govern the way they see fit and not complain. We can then be the UNITED two sides of America.

I think you need to rewind alot further than that.:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Well that's really the million dollar question.... President Obama's stated intention is to forge a national consensus. The "it" the OP referred to will "get better" if President Obama is successful in doing so, i.e., if a substantial number of people, from many perspectives (because the adherents to no specific perspective, alone, are so numerous so as to constitute the population for a consensus), join this consensus President Obama is building, in recognition of the fact that the nation will be best-served by such a consensus rather than the partisan stalemates that are the alternative to such a consensus.

What I meant by "get better" is the nastiness easing up a bit. There are a lot of spiteful, hateful people around here lately.

. When are DISers going to start acting like adults again?

That's the question of the hour. Amazing the low levels that some people will stoop to. And not just concerning presidential stuff. :sad2:

You need to go back further than 2007. Way back to 2005 maybe(what was the year they disbanded the Debate board?) . At least then you knew what board to stay away from, and the CB was pretty much fluff and kind discussion.

Why was the debate board taken down? Oh yeah, because everyone there was getting to be so nasty.:scratchin Hmmm, imagine that.:rolleyes2

Don't you know you don't know what you mean? You have to be told by the professor what you are talking about. This is a perfect example of what you are talking about - some of us "get it".

There will always be people looking for arguments, unfortunately. :sad2:

I agree. I hope some of the friendliness returns. ASAP!

when the mods and those that run the site send a clear message that it will not be allowed - and apply that in an even handed, fair manner. I know that isn't an easy job. I did notice some nasty stuff go poof yesterday, and for that I thank them!

:)

It will get better. The problem right now is, even a post not meant to be inflammatory is taken as such by the "opposing" side.

It's okay for people to not like the POTUS. It's okay for people to criticize him or his actions. It's okay for people to love him, and defend him to any end.

Maybe when our elected officials start acting like adults?:confused3

Huh?

Obama needs to walk the walk, If he wants to end Partisan politics, he should have took a harder look at his Inauguration speech and his Day One White House Web Site. He is also asking Washington to Tighten it's belt yet his inaugaural cost $ 150 Million. To many mixed signals coming out of this Administration.
