When is flip-flopping admire by Republicans?

When the flip flop of Senator Miller (spouting anti-Kerry remarks during the RNC) suits the needs of the Republicans
The Republicans seem to like throwing the word "flip-flop" at Senator Kerry but cheer when another Democrat does the big flip-flop.
Perhaps Senator Miller should resign his post? Or simply change political parties.

This political season is most interesting!

Zell Miller hasn't flip flopped on his positions with regards to national defense. He is a Blue Dog Democrat. He simply crossed the aisle. When Jumpin Jim Jeffords,Vt did it, he was lauded as a hero by the Dems. Zell was great, particularly when he challenged Chris Matthews to a duel.

This is as bad as Republicans slamming Kerry for "I actually did vote for the $87 billion... right before I voted against it."

Taken out of context they both look bad. But read the whole transcript and it makes perfect sense.

But neither Democrats nor Republicans are really interested in listening to the other side -- they just want to score points against their opponents.

When a Democrat changes his/her mind, it's called flip-flopping. When a Republican changes his/her mind, it's called being resolute, staying the course, doing the right thing.

Someone said that if politics were an Olympic sport along the lines of gymnastics, Zell Miller would win the gold in every event.

I'll bet earlier this week the Bush campaign team went through several dozen packages of toilet paper after his interview with Matt Lauer. With all the backpedaling going on, one could easy get dizzy watching the team spin-doctor that misstatement. Oops, it wasn't a misstatement. He really meant we can't win the war on terror, but we can win the war on terror.

This is Bush's "I voted for it before I voted against it" sound bite.

I just think it's pathetic that the Republicans couldn't come up with a better schtick than the "flip flopping". It's almost embarrassing to keep hearing them repeat it over and over, when it's not the case. They made the remark as a joke and they carried it to the extreme because there isn't much more to say. It just sounds so weak now.

Even though I did not vote for Zell Miller, I will miss him tremendously when he retires. He did some wonderful things for Georgia and it's people.

He may have done some "wonderful things" in the past, but the old fart has gone round the bend He actually considerably HELPED the democratic ticket last night with his asinine comments and repugnant rhetoric. So for that, I guess I should thank him.

But hey...in contrast, Cheney almost came off as rational (despite the lies)....Wonder what he thought of Miller's list of weapons systems that Kerry "voted against", since most of them were recommended for dissolution by Cheney himself when he was secretary of defense.

I wondered the same thing about Miller's list. Cheney rational? I wouldn't go that far.

In comparison to the raving loon that was on before him, Cheney really did come off as a rather boring college professor....Or maybe just a minor henchman of doctor evil

I'd be interested in knowing how many undecided voters actually watch the conventions. I am a Democrat and watched our convention and cheered and clapped out loud. DH is a Republican and I have been overhearing the Republican convention and think they sound like a bunch of hooligans. Don't you think that both conventions are so over the top that they're probably a big turn off for undecided voters?
