I know with a package you have to pay the balance I believe it is 45 days in advance. Is this also the case when renting a tent site without any tickets or anything attached?

We are getting AP's so we will buy our tickets when we get there.

If you have what is called a room only reservation (no package), payment of the balance due is made when you check in. You only have to pay one night in advance as a deposit.

Correct and any charges on your KTTW card and extras like pets or extra persons in general is charged upon check out. We often find they don't add those charges probably because the CM thinks you are paying enough already.

Generally if you don't leave a CC on file for charging privileges they do pet fees up front. Of course that might've changed in the past year, since it's been that long.

You only need one night deposit for a reservations.
If you cancel 7 days out, you will receive a full refund.
Cancel 6 days till, you loose your deposit.
You may however change your reservation within those 6 days, as long as you're staying 1 night without a fee.

Many times, I would book a day earlier, just in case we decided to hit the road the night before. If I knew by noon time we weren't going to be leaving that night, then I'd call and cancel that night, but keep the other nights. Never had a problem with that.

One time they did not charge us for our pet (and believe me as big as she was you could not miss her), they ended up sending us a bill in the mail a month or so later for the pet charges they forgot.

LOL. We also got a bill from Disney once. We allowed charging privileges once. We didn't realize that on your last night (to get express check out), they bill your card for all charges incurred up until that point. But you're still allowed to use the card on your final day. That night they run a second charge for all that stuff. A couple days after we checked out, I saw the charge online against the account for the first charge. And used some money out of the account, and the second charge didn't go through. So we got a bill from Disney about a few weeks later. Now I make sure we don't charge on the last day. So that way there's only one charge against the account.

It's just like any Hotel/Motel, if you look at the bottom of the "check out bill" or statement, it clearly states charges incurred after (what ever time they use) are not included and will be billed seperately.

Thats just kinda common sense, ain't it :confused3

:lmao: Yep. Stands to reason, in my view, that any charges incurred AFTER checkout or on the last day would not be included in the statement you receive departure day morning.

But that's just me.

However, I've had a brain fluff or two in my day....so I'm not judging.:rolleyes1

Then again, the printout is itemized, so it should be easy to tell if your final charges are included or not. We keep up with all of our charges pretty well during our trip and know almost to the dollar what the final total is going to be. That way there are no surprises. :thumbsup2

Very rarely did we ever allow charging privileges. So I never even paid attention to the envelope because we were so used to getting them.

They give you a few options upon check in.
1) leave credit card on file for charging privileges.
2) leave credit card on file for express check-out, but no charging privileges.
3) leave no card on file, and check out at the front desk.

We usually did option 2 for the express checkout, so every trip we got a statement that we were free to leave. And after a while, I stopped paying attention to it.

I just figured they did the charges the night of the check out day, not the night before and the day of.

I don't really like the charging priveledges either, but we did do it a couple of times this year. Not much, just a little. Mostly paid w/cash. It's just too easy to overspend if you charge everything. Somehow at the time, it doesn't feel like real money. Guess that's why they encourage you to do it.

We've learned the hard way, that while at Disney we have to stay on alert. Whether it's looking out for price hikes on things we've "always done" or just opening the envelope to double check that it's correct, whether we used charging priveledges or not. :goodvibes

We got burned once last year and once this year on lunches. Lesson learned.

It's so easy to do because you don't really pay attention as the day goes on. 10 here, 5 there, 50 for dinner. You can spend a week's paycheck in one day at disney if you're not careful.

Although I've read at the budget board, you can give the front desk cash or gift cards to put on your account for charging. And you can't go over that amount.

I know what you mean. This year we took cash for our extra spending for that very reason. DH did allow charging priveledges which we only used 3 times during our entire trip. That was a good thing since we ate the Biergarten in Epcot without being on price hike alert. :scared1: Talk about being burned! Yikes! $85.00 for lunch and that was BEFORE adding a tip! Needless to say, we didn't have enough cash with us to cover the bill. We'd have spent the rest of our time at Epcot washing dishes if not for CP that day. :lmao: I think the other 2 times were only for counter service when DH didn't get the cash from me before going to order. Remember, I said I've had a few brain fluffs in my day. :goodvibes

I don't know if I'd want to leave cash with a CM at check in without getting some sort of receipt. I wonder how that works?

We've also used Travelers checks in the past which worked out well, but I just normally keep up with room charges every day and we pretty much know what the end result will be. The main thing is to keep up with those 5, 10 and 20 dollar charges. Those are the ones that sneak up on you and bite you in the butt.
