Wish we had a fall break instead of the one in Feburary.

Denise in MI

We start August 7th, and go the full 9 before our fall break too. Then there is Christmas break and Spring Break.

that's pretty much how it is here, too.

Wen8jr will be able to relate to this one, where most people here won't, LOL ... we get out on a couple of Fridays in March for basketball tournaments. ;)

Earth to the OP: by now, it should be clear that so-called "fall break" is quite uncommmon, so don't worry about it affecting attendance at WDW.

No fall break here, but the public school kids do get off for the Jewish holidays. Not mine tho parochial school and all.

quite uncommon is a relative term... if you're from TN, KY, AL, GA, or other southern states... fall break is quite common. I understand that those states are only approx. 10% of the entire US, so in that regard, it is uncommon. But all things being equal, those are states very close to FL and WDW a popular fall break destination.

Fall break + free dining promo + food & wine festival + MNSSHP = elevated October crowds.

No Fall break here in Florida. (not much Fall type weather either!) We do get 3 days off for Thanksgiving.

No fall break in Seattle Washington I hadnt even heard of fall break until this post we are just starting school here school doesnt start till the middle of September and we dont even get a mid-winter break only Spring, Summer, and Christmas Break here I like the idea though

In SW Louisiana kids start school in mid-August and there's no "fall break" per se, but we get the entire week off at Thanksgiving.

In February we get either a 4 or 5-day week-end for Mardi Gras, then spring break is the week after Easter. Finish up at the end of May.

I think that "fall breaks" do affect the crowds. We are from Tennessee...our Fall break is 1-5 and 8-12 of October. We start school Aug. 2 so a break in the fall is well needed for students and teachers. Besides us, I know of 5 other families just at my daughters school that are planning disney trips during that time. It is a more common thing in the south then in other parts of the country

No fall break--we start on Sept. 6th. We do have two days off for Jewish holiday mid September, and have election day/teacher conference days in November.

No fall break in Delaware! We do occasionally take advantage of a long weekend that comes in November every few years. I wish we did have one . . . it's one of my favorite times to go to WDW!

It looks like this year we get Oct 8th & 9th off, making for a 4 day weekend. They did that last year too. When DD was in K we actually had the whole week off.

We are getting a fall break for the first time this year,Oct. 11-15.

We leave for the airport as soon as the kids get out of school on the 10th and will arrive home the night of the 15th.

I can't speak for the whole state of Michigan, but the Christian Schools in West Michigan attend a two day conference Oct. 18/19 and our schools takes off the 17th so I know several families who come to FLorida/Disney the week of Oct.13-21. But not enough to make it busier that is for sure. We came this same week two years ago and it was a great time, other than a late hurricane that came right when we were leaving.

I definately relate...my 12 year holds his breath that our teams go on in the tournaments each year. We have 2 high schools here - so he gets double the chance!! LOL Ky and Basketball...can't have one without the other! ;)

Good points...and perhaps this thread should have been labeled "if you live in the central part of the south, when is your Fall break?" The use of the term "your area" makes it sound as if this is a national discussion.;)

Our so called fall break is just 2 days of Parent Teacher conferences on a Thursday and Friday, and the following Monday is a school clean up day or some such thing. We are taking advantage of it and I am taking my DS out of school for 3 days. So while they may not call it Fall Break at the school I don't mind calling it that at all if it gets me to Disney.

Same schedule for those of us here in South Mississippi!

We start school on August 3 though!
