When is ELP historically down during holidays?

We always go around Thanksgiving. We've also been there just after New Year's. We missed the ELP on that trip due to rain. Anyone know when the parade is up during the holiday season?
TIA!

Normally, it starts running the Friday prior to Christmas week. This year, I would guess it would begin running on Dec. 18th, and then run through Jan. 3.

I would also add that I would expect DEP to go away from DCA entirely once the World of Color show starts up in Spring 2010. There is talk of DEP going back to DL and once again becoming the MSEP for the DL 55th anniversary next year. If that happens it will not be seasonal like it has been at DCA but will be a regular parade if only for a year or so. :)

Does this mean there would be NO showings of the Electrical Parade this October? I've been off the boards for quite awhile and now need to catch up.

Thanks

It's very unlikely that the Electrical Parade would be shown in October.

The Electrical Parade usually goes dark after Labor Day, and it usually doesn't return until Christmas time.

Wow, why do they do that? Economizing? I read they've refurbished it and was hoping to see it. Is it becoming a situation at Disneyland where you are forced to go in summer or holidays to see all the offerings?

I would think with this summer's offer that at least the parade would run through the end of Sept. when the package special ends rather than stop at the beginning of Sept??

So does it play all summer long, weekdays included?

Yes, the Electrical Parade (DEP) is usually shown nightly (weekdays included) from mid-June to late-August.

This year the DEP is (was) scheduled nightly from Friday, June 12, to Sunday, August 23.

The official calendar for September hasn't been released, so it remains to be seen if the Electrical Parade (DEP) will be shown after Labor Day. In previous years the DEP has been dark after Labor Day.

Based on previous calendars, here’s some general information about the Electrical Parade (DEP) in DCA:

Jan.: Shown nightly for first week (Christmas/New Year's)
Feb.: Not shown
Spring Break: Shown nightly (2 weeks)
March: Shown Fri., Sat., Sun.
April: Shown Fri., Sat., Sun.
May & early June: Shown Fri., Sat., Sun.
Summer: Shown nightly (mid-June to late-August)
Sept.: Not shown after Labor Day
Oct.: Not shown
Nov. & early-Dec.: Not shown
Christmas Week / New Year's: Shown nightly (Friday-before-Christmas to early-Jan.)

The above information is generally correct, but be sure to double-check the Electrical Parade dates at the official calendar:

Hope this helps. :goodvibes

P.S. Like HydroGuy mentioned above (in post #4), next spring the Electrical Parade might leave DCA and return to Main Street (when the World of Color show opens in DCA). HydroGuy wrote, "If that happens it will not be seasonal like it has been at DCA but will be a regular parade if only for a year or so."
