When is Double-Booking NOT Double-Booking?

I know it's a touchy subject, but let me explain what my family has in mind:

We're on the DxDP. We don't do breakfasts, partially because we'd rather hit rope-drop, but also because we'd rather use those credits on lunches and dinners where we feel the value is greater.

That being said, we will have more credits available to us than meal times available, so to speak. Our problem is this: We were thinking of doing one TS in Epcot, i.e. Marrakesh or other around 5:00 PM, and then another TS around 7-7:30 PM, say Nine Dragons. Will we eat entire meals at both? It's possible -- DH is one of those guys ;). But even if we don't finish everything at the second TS, it's already paid for and a credit we would rather use at a TS than at a CS, or lose altogether.

My question is, has anybody else done this? Has anybody done this and reserved online/call-in since the new reservation system was installed, and were your ADRs questioned or canceled? I realize some people consider this double-booking, but we fully intend on going to both restaurants. That's not in question, only whether or not we can reserve them ahead of time or just risk the walk-in. I'm also aware that Nine Dragons isn't the most popular, but I suppose I'm asking about the overall possibility, not necessarily the individual locations.

Any advice, opinions, experiences are welcome. Thanks!

I guess it's possible, however to me it seems like a waste of 3-4 hours. Basically, you're going to be spending your entire evening eating, and you will obviously be too full to even enjoy a second meal. I can't even imagine eating one full sit-down meal, and then again an hour later. (figuring the first meal takes you 60-90min) So from 5pm-9pm you're going to be eating and traveling.

Why not slip in a breakfast those days? They offer reservations pretty early, even before rope drop times depending on the time of year you go. For ex: I have 8:05am breakfast ressies in Sept. when the parks don't open until 9am. Plenty of time to eat and make park opening.

Just a suggestion.

That should not be a problem. Your reservations are not for the same time. So really they are 2 seperate reservations. I have been to Nine dragons, not as good as before they changed the menu. So you won't really get full there.

Have you gone before with the Dining Plan? I honestly cannot see how you could do two TS in one night! Why don't you plan to skip breakfast and do a lunch around 1ish and then dinner around 7. As far as booking a "double booking"... I have no clue, but you must be able to for people with the deluxe plan get two TS and one CS a day.

Why not do one two TS credit meal/ Any signature restaurants, CRT or dinner show uses two TS.

Odds are if you have an ADR at 5:30 with the DxDDP - where you'll have a 3 course meal, you won't be done with your dinner by the time the next ADR time (say 7:30) rolls around.

Just for giggles -

You arrive and it takes 10 minutes to be seated. Then it takes 10 minutes to look over menus and place your order. You get an appetizer after 10 minutes and they give you 15 minutes to eat it. They clear your dishes and your meal comes out in 5 minutes. It then takes another 25-30 to eat it. They clear those dishes, take your dessert order and that comes out in 10 minutes. It takes 15 minutes to finish it up and then you wait for your bill - which could come out immediately or take up to 15 minutes depending on how busy your server is and how familiar they are with the DxDDP. Right there you are talking 2 hours.

Now you head to another TS to start the process all over again immediately...if you even make it there on time?

Honestly, I think your "double" dining sounds a bit unrealistic. Yeah, you can probably eat the food but, I agree with another poster, I think time is going to be against you and you will spend HOURS eating in the evening.

I would *try* to do an early breakfast at one of the restaurants. They really are good, IMO, unless you absolutely hate breakfast. Another option is a sit-down early lunch and a later dinner.

it's your credits, if you think you can et twice so soon together, go for it :)

i would try for a lunch around 1pm and then dinner around 7 or 8. we're on deluxe and almost all of our days are:

breakfast at 8am
lunch at 1pm
dinner at 7 or 8pm

With the ressies being that close together I would consider it double booking. If you think about it realistically a ressie at 5pm would not end until at least 6pm if not 6:30pm and then to have another ressie a half hour to an hour later is nearly impossible when you consider walking to the other ressie and honestly who could be that hungry in such a short time :confused3

Dbl-booking is when any 2+ adr's fall within the same meal period on the same day. Regardless of whether the adr's are 1-2-3 hrs apart, you have 2 dinner adr's booked within a dinner timeframe. That is dbl-booking.

I wouldn't worry about it. Just show up to whichever ADRs you make, or you risk ruining somebody else's evening who may have wanted that table and time.

And don't listen to the rumors that Disney Dining arbitrarily cancels one or all of your ADRs if they catch you double-booking. It was started by posters who never cared for Disney's laissez-faire take on double-booking, and were trying to use scare-tactics with their own non-existent policy. No one has ever proven that this has been done, and nowhere is it stated on a Disney Dining webpage that they have the ability/right to do this. They don't, and they haven't. Until they start requesting CCs on all ADRs, there is no penalty.

I, for one, would love it if they started demanding CCs for every ADR. Rumor has it they will, but as I've said, don't believe every rumor.

We like having a small bite to eat at the hotel and making a reservation for the last breakfast time. We are always full until dinner and really enjoy the breakfast foods.
