When is all of the current construction supposed to be completed?

We went to WDW in November and are returning in a few weeks. I'm fine with taking a year or two off after this. I'd prefer to return when Avatarland, the DHS construction and MK hub work is completed. Any timeline when this is expected to be completed? I don't mind taking some time between trips but like to have in my mind when we will be going back. :thanks:

Nobody knows.

Consider that it is quite possible that there will not be a time when something (often more than one thing) is not being refurbed or repainted or redesigned or things added, etc.

Well I guess my plans will be on hold indefinitely then. I was hoping they would have some construction timeline, oh well.

For the Hub (specifically) it has been rumored to be completed toward the end of this year.
But, that's uncertain, and as to other projects in MK and elsewhere (including DTD, DAK, DHS, and Epcot)
they will be ongoing for a period of years.

Thanks, I'd be happy if the hub and one other park had their construction done or at least mostly done. Hopefully they will have made good progress by 2017.

My wife just finished her 3 day trip and everything seemed to be under construction. She still loved it but was an eyesore with all the walks up.

I too am thinking of taking a break until they finish the hub and Avatarland. Maybe it is time to go see Potterville down the street. We haven't seen it yet.....

I think in the next few years there will be a lot of new additions, especially to HS and AK. Avatarland, Star Wars, etc. I think there will be some major refurbishments completed in the next few years as well. I think that just as the newness of Harry Potter at Universal starts to wear off, Disney will be shining again. I know after our November trip, that will be our last WDW vacation for 3 years.

Universal isn't construction free, either. Both Harry Potter lands are worth seeing, but just don't expect to have the Universal parks be construction wall free, there are a couple of big projects going on.

I would wager heavily that there will be no time when something isn't under construction at Disney World. All four parks are open every day all year round. Unless the parks close for an extended period to do all construction work, there won't be a day without something being worked on.

I don't expect Universal or WDW to ever be construction free. I think it may be time to give WDW a chance to finish up a few of their projects before going back. Hopefully the newness of Potter has worn off a little. We haven't been to Universal in several years and for us it was an inexpensive trip compared to our Disney trips.

The hub is looking like it's getting closer. First half should be done in the next couple months (FP area for Wishes viewing is coming up), then the other half is rumored to be quicker because the moat isn't involved, so it may be completed by this year's end?

AK looks like it's going in stages. They just opened a section of tree roots the other day. Avatarland though, not for a couple years I don't think.

DTD, same with the stages. Bridge should be open later this week, and other work is progressing right along, but it will be another couple years til it's all finished, it sounds like.

Epcot has most everything going on behind the scenes, so it looks fine.

And DHS, well, that's just beginning. Or rather, hasn't really yet begun.

Just to add, I'm glad they're investing in the infrastructure of the parks. MK has been so crowded lately that the hub expansion will be a very nice thing indeed. Avatar would not have been my first choice in a new land at AK, but some folks are pretty excited about it I guess. And more Star Wars coming to DHS, and a 3rd theater & new movie for Soarin' are music to my ears!!!

I'm really just interested in going when the parks look back to normal. Once the hub work is complete I will be happy. Epcot doesn't bother me although Maelstrom is one of my favorite rides there and I will be happy when it returns. DHS is my least favorite park so I am really looking forward to the new attractions and can't wait for that to come to fruition. AK, eh, not so into the Avatarland but if the attractions are cool that will be great.

I thought Maelstrom wasn't returning at all?

It won't be returning as the ride "Maelstrom."

A ride of some kind, based on the film "Frozen," is being built in that space.

That's what I thought. I don't think PP knows that Maelstrom is officially closed as of last October.

Yes, I know. I just thought they were adding some Frozen to Maelstrom like they added Johnny Depp to parts of POTC, didn't realize they were putting in a whole new attraction.

Yup.

Click HERE to see a YouTube video of some of the Maelstrom Viking Boats being hauled away on a flatbed semi truck. :scared:

Well now I am sad, I don't know why but Maelstrom was my #2 favorite in Epcot after Impressions de France. Yes I know I am an oddball, lol.

Yea maelstrom is gutted. Wish they would've put a frozen ride elsewhere but oh well I guess
