When is a good time to purchase flights?

We will be traveling at the beginning of June and I have noticed that the flights have already went up a little since they fares were first released.

If you have noticed airfares rising, I would go ahead and buy them. Most of the time the price will only continue to rise, not always the case, the closer to travel day. Hope that helps.

Double check on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. I have found those days are better as far as fare cost..

Book a great fare when you see one (I've regretted not following that advice and learned the hard way! :sad2: ). Otherwise, I strive to book at least 3 months out; I personally get nervous if we're not booked by then. For busier seasons, I'd try to nail down our flights even earlier.

Southwest is having a great sale right now through 1/20/14. I don't know if it covers dates in June but I scored r/t airfare for $218 per person and I don't have to pay for luggage. I am super pumped over my great deal!

I think the general suggestion that I see floating around is 6 to 8 weeks out. I, however, don't follow that guideline. I fly from a smaller airport where I find that flights tend to only rise from they are posted. Once I find a good flight for a price I'm comfortable with, I buy.

If you fly from a bigger airport, or a 'hub' airport you may find that you can get really good deals about 6-8 weeks out directly from the airline. I'm a JetBlue True Blue member and I get emails all the time for really cheap deals (my airport usually isn't included.)
