Well, all of my babies have been to Disney while I was pregnant with with.
Disneyland at 7 months with DD1, Disneyworld at 5 months with DD2 and just this past May at 3 months with DS. So, my kids are set to love Disney from the womb
Because I BF my babies, we always wanted to wait until they were weaned to go..so we never went and dont plan to go until they are one.
What we did...with babies with very different personalities
First trip, DD was 18 months and we took the grandparents with us. I was pregnant. It was a wonderful trip. No, she doesnt remember it, BUT, I do and we will always have those memories. She LOVED riding the rides she could, loved the animals at AK and playing in the pool. I can very much say that I have precious memories about that trip, seeing her light up at the castle and she loved Spectromagic...I dont care that she didnt remember it. Now, she was terrified of the characters, but she is very shy. Of course, the grandparents had a great time too. We liked using Disney transportation cause we could go back and forth as we needed to and DH parents could do what they wanted.
We made a big Disney scrapbook when we got home and she still talks about it and looks through it. Even now, she likes to look at those pictures of when she was a baby and we went to Disneyworld.
Second trip, DD1 was almost 3 and DD2 was 1. We were there on her birthday. I was pregnant on this trip too (so bummed I still havent been able to ride fun stuff like Test Track and Rockin Roller Coaster yet...this next trip
DD1 is a very friendly, outgoing child and LOVED the characters. She had the best time and would give them all kisses. She did great in the stroller and took naps when she was tired. She started walking at 10 months, so she was running everywhere, but did well sitting in her stroller. DD1 LOVED it and still talks about it today. Is always asking when we can go back and cant wait to see the castle again! She asks almost every day if we can go back today! I Wish
DD1 did not sleep in the stroller so we just went back to the hotel and took naps every day and then headed back out. It worked out great.
We are planning our next trip for Jan/Feb 07 since DS will be one and DH doesnt have enough vacation time this year.
Each time you go, at every age, I believe there is magic. If you go early, they have a good time while they are there, but wont remember it. But, like I said, you will. Each age has stuff that others cant. We have a great time as a family and kids will be kids. Yes, some two year olds will have fits and melt downs, but so do 10 year olds. Yes, we have a double stroller that people get annoyed with but its Disneyworld and I love watching ALL of those sweet little faces as they see Mickey or the Castle! We realized that we will have to make personal sacrifices in these early years and spend more time at MK and less time at Epcot, water parks etc. DD just got bored at Epcot and we could spend DAYS walking through the world showcase. We also know that as they get older, we will probably spend more time at Epcot.
There is a lot that little ones can do. Basically, being pregnant, we could all ride the same rides and I didnt miss out on too much. I think you just have to be wise and take it in stride. No, some days we didnt get to do as much as we wanted, but we will go back and we know that.
I figure we have lots of years and lots of ages and each time will be a new experience as children will enjoy different parts each time they go. My kids will be raised at Disneyworld! Our family thinks we are crazy, but yall all understand
