When Is a Child TOO Old...

I think it depends on the kid. BTW, on the last trip I took (5 days at SW + USF), on the 3rd day, my legs were killing me (too much standing/walking)and I told DH to take DD to the park for the day, and just let me chill. He refused, and rented a wheel chair at USF for me, insisting on pushing my fat lazy but around all day. It was very sweet. But my point is, If a kid is too tired, let them ride. Its easier than carrying them, and to hell with what anyone else thinks. Its not easy to walk the parks all day. (yes I am lazy, and plan on starting a daily walk either sometime this year, or next Jan to ^help^ me prepare for WDW)

We go 3 times a year and I always rent a stroller for my now 7 yr old dd. (She'll be 8 in February) We now rent a double stroller just for her. She is NOT lazy by all means and in no way at all overweight BUT she is more comfortable and safer in the stroller then walking during busy periods of the year not to mention the fact that I have arthritus and this stroller 'balances' and paces me allowing me to enjoy my time in the parks also. It also makes for a great storage area.

We always go in the summer. (6,6,8) Its much easier for kids to get dehydrated. Letting the kids use the stroller provides some shade. Walking around as you know, you can sweat buckets. I would rather them have the break from walking rather than overheating. Heat stroke is not something to mess with.

My only comment is that whilst it might seem that some of the kids are 6 or 7, they may just be very tall for their age! My DD had just turned 5 on our last trip and she was wearing age 6-7 clothes. She did look big for the stroller but even though she is tall enough to look like a 7 year old, she still has the stamina and mind of a five year old! ;)

I have that exact problem. I have a 6 year old that most people would think is 9. He is officially tall enough to ride every single ride at Disney and Universal....and he is 6.

If as a parent you think your child needs a stroller, then use a stroller. Who cares what someone else thinks. I would rather deal with someone thinking my kid is lazy or that Im not the best parent because I let an older child (although I dont see a 7 year old as being older) use a stroller than having to deal with a cranky kid. Use the stroller if you want and to heck with everyone else.
