When in May will be least crowded?

I am taking my son for his 7th birthday (I take all the kids alone on their 7th birthday and its my third child's turn). His birthday is May 28th and I was thinking this was kinda late in the school year to be gone for a week. I was thinking of maybe going a little earlier in the month. However, with the 50th celebration I am wondering how busy you think it will be this May?

Any opinions?

The first week of May is one of my very most favorite times to visit Disneyland - great weather and no crowds. However, this year there's no telling what it will be like. Definnitely skip the first week, probably second week too. Maybe, just maybe, the third week of May would be a little less crazy.

I would be interested in other's opinions as well!

Oh, and I love your tradition of taking your kids to Disneyland on their 7th birthday!

I'd imagine it will be crowded throughout May this year because of the anniversary kick off.

yes, but I would think(although it is a complete guess) that the third week, if avoiding weekends, might be doable?

We are going the first week of May. Since the kickoff isnt until the 5th, we hope that May 1-3rd, Sun-Tues, will be slow, then we'll go to Sea World as DL is closed, then return the 5-6th so we can enjoy the new parade and fireworks. The 5th and 6th are still regular school days and the celebration will last a long time, so i dont think it will be tooo bad, esp if we can get the rides done earlier in the week. Maybe I'm just optimistic, though.
