I am planning a family trip for July of 08 with my family and my cousins I have three children there ages will be 6,4,2 my cousin has 2 children ages 9,6 all together we will be 9 people. My question is when in July should I go, Should I avoid July 4th? Are the crowds in July really bad some people say they are horrible while others say they are manageable. Does anyone have experiences with July that they can share? Also we are not planning on going to the parks in the daytime we were planning on going in the the evening and taking advantage of extra magic hours.

Please Help!

FWIW, I called to make dining reservations for the end of July about a month ago (it had totally slipped my mind!) and was shocked to get all the ressies I wanted. The dining CM said that the last week of July is actually a really good time to visit because the summer crowd drops off considerably.

We have been there several times over the last few years. Our most recent trip was this past July 1-10. In the past we have also been there the last week of July and another trip in first week of August. I know that they say the last two weeks of July first week of August are the worst months for the heat and I would probably agree. At least that is my opinion. We stayed away from MK on the 4th thinking the crowds were going to be really bad and they were saying the park would be closed by late morning due to capacity. They weren't and I wish we would have gone there. I hear the fireworks were out of this world. We instead went to MGM.

When we arrived on the first we were wondering where all of the people were. It seemed pretty empty from what we are used to. As it got closer to the 4th the crowds picked up but in my opinion managable. Then by about the 7th the crowds seemed to level out a little more.

In my opinion how hot it is is an indicator of whether the crowds are managable. Just my two sense.

I hope this helps.:)

As a Florida born and bred girl, I'm going with August 1-Sept 15th as the ultimate worst for heat and humidity and with November as the single most pleasant month of the year.

Make sure you don't go the week of the 4th! I made that mistake once and I will never do it again. Waaaayyyy too crowded.
