We are planning on visiting DL during the week sometime in early Dec. Is it best to go right after Thanksgiving? Like the Monday or Tues after or is it better to wait a week or so?
What are the crowds like then?

I was actually looking at this today, the first week Dec 2-5 DL is only open until 10am-6pm. Then beg. Dec 9 it is open 10am-8pm. Have a great vacation!

So does that mean that there will be no elec. parade or fantasmic the first week? The first week works better for us as our grandchildren would only have to miss 3 days of school and still be gone the whole week. Thanks!! Oh, where is there a schedule of all this?

Thanks Dana, that's a great help! I am disappointed that the elec. parade will only be on Fri, Sat, or Sun as we were just planning on going Mon. and leaving Fr. Maybe we can go on Sun. I don't think Fantasmic is ever on then!! Maybe we will just wait.

the electrical parade is ONLY at DCA, not Disneyland. Fantasmic is at DL. The holiday decorations, snow on Main Street, Haunted Mansion and Small World makeovers make the holidays truly magical. Any weeks between thanksgiving and Christmas Week should be great!

Midweek during the 1st 2 weeks of December are awesome. There are no lines and no crowds! You do give up the parades and shows (sometimes it rains and the parades are cancelled anyway). It really depends on if you are there to see all the extra stuff or if you really want to ride the rides. We were there for the rides and so we each just pulled on a ballcap and walked in the rain :) Everything was a walk-on... we rode Indiana Jones 3 or 4 times in a row.

The hours are short, but you'd still get to see everything you want to ride because of no lines. Plan for something fun or different to do in the evenings since the parks will be closed.

Have a great time!

This thread has been really encouraging for me. For many reasons, mostly financial, we just cancelled a January 2003 cruise on the Magic and booked five days at DL and DCA. It sounds like it will be wonderful. Even though we're just 100 or so miles away, we haven't been to the parks in years. In fact the last time, it was park not parks.

Can't wait.

Thanks. I think we decided on the 11-13th. Whatever is a wed-friday. I think there were some parades and shows listed for that week.
How much does it rain then?

It's possible for rain--but unlikely--hey, we surf here on Christmas Day!!!! But, you never know. It could fool us. We have had drought for 2 years straight..................

Krisj,
We'll be there from the tenth to the fourteenth. Of course, it is a big place. We're staying at GC.

Ack!!! Your counter says 55 days! That isn't enough time for me to plan! It took me MONTHS to plan the WDW trip.

It can be done! I have always planned way ahead too to get just the resort I wanted, ect. This time I decided in Oct. to take my son, wife, and 3 kids and my husband and me to WDW the first week of Dec. Everythings worked out great and I got AKL deluxe savannah and tickets for MVMCP and all. I've had no problems and now I won't have so long to wait! Also, it's the first time I've gotten a club discount on my rooms!
