Okay, so I am I'm a contract and have passed ROFR. I already know without the experience that my guide will be awsome as that is the Disney experience and the main reason we joined. I was wondering, the guide I spoke to 2 yes ago will most likely be my guide. She us gone alot on cruises. I do realize that I can request to change my guide, but do they all do this? I personally, would like a guide that will be there during the week to answer a question when it arises. Primarily since I am new to this and will have plenty of questions.

This forum has been very helpful as well and a wealth of info.

I know many people will say that whoever you contact first will be your guide. That was not my case though. I had talked to Jeff J. many times over the years, but neve bought. Bought a resale and then when I added on was given Kathy as my guide. FYI...

Your Guide is there primarily if you want to purchase additional DVC points. Questions of any other nature will be directed mostly to Member Services, and sometimes to Member Administration (accounting).

If you plan your future purchases to also be resales, then you will not require the services of a DVC Guide, though you may be assigned either to your original one, or the Guide that is attached to the contract that you just purchased.

Your guide is your timeshare sales person representing Disney's timeshare sales operation. Their job is to sell you more points. That doesn't make them bad people, but just remember where their loyalties lie and what they do for a living.

The nice folks whose responsibility is to help you enjoy your DVC membership are Member Services (reservations, information, etc) and Member Administration (accounting questions).

As Carol noted, unless you plan on purchasing directly from DVC (at their prices), you probably won't need much from your guide.

The only time we hear from our guide is when DVC has come up with a new program to sell points and his name is on the mail-out or on the e-mail to call to buy more points.

They are primarily salespeople and not you best friend.

You will probably become closer to your anonymous DIS friends than you will to your guide.

Unless you want to buy more points, there's no need to speak with your guide. I haven't spoken with mine since I bought, 9 years ago.

Virtually everything you do with your membership will need to go through Member Services, except for dues or loan issues, which go through Member Accounting. Those two groups are also the ones you'd call with questions. Some guides will take the time to answer questions on how to use your membership, but it's really not their job, they're salespeople.

Usually if you make contact with Disney about the DVC, the first licensed real estate agent (Guide) that you speak to will be your Guide.

If the Guide leaves the company or is reassigned, you will be assigned a new Guide.

You can request a new Guide by contacting the real estate office (Preview Center) and talking to a sales manager.

Guides can work at the Preview Center or from home. They rotate to the DCL and the remote sales sites including DL.

Recently Disney has hired contracted sales agents in NY.
