When & how can you make room requests and preferences?

I've seen people talking about requests they're making. When and how are these requests being made? Is it through the app, is it only if you do online check-in. As for room assignments, can you get that confirmed prior to checking in? Will a later check-in impact requests?

When: when you are making the reservation or any time after, up to a week before arrival.

How:
  • determine and list your requests in order of importance.
  • CALL Disney and add requests.

Remember:
  • keep requests to a minimum - the more complicated, the less likely.
  • requests are never, ever, ever guaranteed.
  • don't request what does not exist.
  • do not make requests just because you can.
Room assignments are made available to the visitor ONLY once the room is ready for occupancy.

Arrival time should not, but may, affect room availability.

Your best bet is to call the Main Reservation line and add your request to your reservation. This can be done any time from the day you book up until 4-5 days out. When within that time frame makes no difference.

As for room assignments, can you get that confirmed prior to checking in?

No. Sometimes you will get your room number texted to you and depending on when you're arriving, that might happen before you actually arrive. But it would only be on your check in day, not earlier.

Will a later check-in impact requests?

No. Rooms are assigned 2-3 days out.

You have to call in the requests to central reservations and they will add them to your reservation. You can do it at the time you book the reservation until about five days before you check in. If you used a travel agent then they have to make the call.

You will be assigned a room prior to check in and you can go to the front desk to ask about your room assignment before you go to the room.

There has been speculation that a late check in results in a less desirable room location, but that doesn't hold true in most cases.

If you subscribe to Touring Plans, they have a fax service where they will fax your requests 5 days ahead of your stay. They are still only requests.

If you have multiple requests (try to keep it to no more than 3), it's best to prioritize them however the request is made. That way the assigner knows what is most important to you and will look for that first, then see if any that meet priority 1 also meet priority 2, etc.

And yes, make sure that what you are requesting is what you have reserved if it is a bookable category. (Example, at Moderates, King Bed is a bookable category which could be in any section. So at CBR, you could have booked a King Bed - you could request it be in any of the sections (except Trinidad South since there are no King Bed Pirate Rooms) without it throwing a wrench into things. But if you've reserved a Water View room, it would throw a wrench into things to request a King Bed.)

By doing online check in (according to some posters the feature is back up and running after about 18 months of it not working well).
Or you can call and have room requests noted on your reservation.
If you do online check in you may get your room number before arriving at your resort.
