When have flights for Oct gotten cheaper in years past?

We normally go in September so I am wondering about when the flight prices started to drop in the last few years for October? We are planning on VA out of Gatwick.

Thanks,
Mel

October is quite a busy month wioth school half term at the end. The lowest VA prices were Feb to early April of this year, and they are now getting more expensive. Even the offers are more as the cheapest seats have gone! I would say if you now see a price you are happy to pay then book it as it may not be there for long.

As for charter flights they may get cheaper nearer the time it depends how much nerve you have to hold out!

October is becoming increasingly more popular as a time for people to visit Florida. The trend I have noticed in recent years is that flight are gradually getting more expensive at this time with bargains few and far between, it is still cheaper than other longer school holiday periods but the gap is closing :(

If you can be flexible with when you fly then by all means hold out and see if you do get a late bargain, but personally I would do what Claire says which is to book as soon as I see a price I am happy with. St least that way it would be peace of mind that the flights were sorted.

I haven't seen a price I am happy with.... :( We are going the 12-28, so you'd think it would be cheaper at least heading out on the 12. We did this to accomodate family, next year I am switching back to September.

We fly out on the 11th to the 29th we booked over 6 months ago. we got a good price.............. its gone UP since.

have you checked out Virgin Holidays rather than just flight only, I priced a package up for similar dates you want a few month back it was a lot cheaper for the package than flight only.

Thanks everyone. wayneg, I'll go try that.

I have just had a quick look and the prices I saw look to have gone and dates sold out. The package I saw was 2 adults and a 13 year old for about £1700 for 3 weeks. I think I searched 6th-27th. Looks like you need to be in early for package hols in Oct.

I tried to check the fly/drive last night. We are hoping for an AP discount so I wouldn't book the room through them.

I just checked and they said nothing available.

I suspect VA may do another offer in a few weeks as they are concentrating on the summer season at the moment, but there again availability for the cheaper seats may be few and far between as you head out on the 12th which is an ideal date for anyone going for 3 weeks to include half term and 31st. I know when I booked back in early April for 10th to 24th anything after 24th shot up as that was when people were likely to return from a 2 week holiday in time for school starting on the 29th October.

I want Premium Economy as my first choice... I will just keep checking every day, and as soon as it comes down a bit I will buy.... Hopefully that will happen.

PE can be an anomally as it is more expensive on some dates than other in comparison to the economy prices. I am sure another offer will come up but when and how cheap is another matter! We are also flying PE and I would of added another couple of nights onto our holiday but by the time I was able to bookk 25th Oct owards was about £150 more expensive each
