If you hear the band name Nine Inch Nails, you are likely to have a somewhat unpleasant association--if you've even heard of them at all. I've been a fan of their music sine they became very popular in the early 90's, but I know it's really not most people's cup of tea.
However, this is a story that just goes to show, apperances can be deceiving and good can be done in the world. Interestingly, I have found little coverage of this in the MSM, but know about it through the band's website, Twitter and Facebook.
Here's the story: a 27 year old man needs a heart transplant. He's on Nevada State Medicaid (he was unable to get private insurance because his heart problem is a pre-exisiting condition) but there are no transplant centers in Nevada. And Nevada won't approve the procedure in another state.
His sister turned to Twitter (and other news outlets, she used to be a CNN reporter) to help her brother get publicity for the red-tape battle. Nine Inch Nails decided to help, and in the process have raised over $500,000 (in about 3 days) which may be enough to have the procedure outright.
Here's a link to how they did it: http://www.thecelebritycafe.com/features/27863.html
With all the bad stuff that goes on with the world and the crazy tabloid nonsense, it's great to see someone with some public power step up and do a great deed.

My Chemical Romance is one of our favorites to work with.
who have the reputation of being all wonderful. I'd love to name names but that wouldn't be proper. (sneaks away and bites tongue!)
